Pierre-François Beauvallet
Pierre-François Beauvallet (13 October 1801 – 21 December 1873) was a 19th-century French actor and playwright. Biography Beauvallet first made his reputation as a melodrama actor, then became an ordinary tragedian of the Comédie-Française; He tried with less success to be a playwright. His son was the writer and dramatist Léon Beauvallet. Pithiviers
Pithiviers () is a communes of France, commune in the Loiret Departments of France, department, north central France. It is one of the Subprefectures in France, subprefectures of Loiret. It is twinned with Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire, England and Burglengenfeld in Bavaria, Germany. Its attractions include a cinema, a theatre and a Heritage railway, preserved steam railway. The sociétaires of the Comédie-Française are chosen from among the ''pensionnaires'' who have been in the company a year or more. They are decided upon in the course of a general assembly of the company's administrative committee, made up of 6 existing sociétaires, the senior sociétaire, and the general administrator. A pensionnaire is thus named a societaire by a decree of the Ministry of Culture, from names put forward by the general administrator of the Comédie-Française. On becoming a sociétaire, an actor automatically becomes a member of the ''Société des Comédiens-Français'' and receives a share of the profits as well as receiving a number of shares in the société to which he or she is contractually linked. After his or her retirement, a sociétaire can continue to act, becoming an honorary sociétaire. Pierre Larousse
Pierre Athanase Larousse (23 October 18173 January 1875) was a French grammarian, lexicographer and encyclopaedist. He published many of the outstanding educational and reference works of 19th-century France, including the 15-volume ''Grand dictionnaire universel du XIXe siècle''. Early life Pierre Larousse was born in Toucy, where his father was a blacksmith. At the age of sixteen he won a scholarship at the teaching school in Versailles. Four years later, he returned to Toucy to teach in a primary school, but became frustrated by the archaic and rigid teaching methods. In 1840 he moved to Paris to improve his own education by taking free courses. Career From 1848 to 1851 he taught at a private boarding school, where he met his future wife, Suzanne Caubel (although they did not marry until 1872).
