Pianu (german: Pien; hu, Felsőpián) is a commune located in Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 3,390 and is composed of five villages: Pianu de Jos (''Alsópián''), Pianu de Sus (the commune center), Plaiuri (''Plaintelep''), Purcăreți (''Sebespurkerec'') and Strungari (''Sztrugár''). The commune is situated in the southwestern part of Alba County, some south of the county seat, Alba Iulia. It is traversed from south to north (first through Pianu de Sus and then Pianu de Jos) by the Pianul river. There are traces in Pianu of settlements dating back to the Roman period, when the 13th Twin Legion had encampments in the area. Armand Pien (Gent, 2 January 1920 – Gent, 22 September 2003) was a Belgian weatherman for 37 years. He was popular because his weather predictions were funny and somewhat cryptic. His show, "The Weather", was broadcast twice a week. It was described in 1985 as mixing "scientific reports with off-beat pranks and displays of bizarre fruits and vegetables grown by viewers". After he retired from national television he had a daily (Monday – Friday) weather talk on the East Flanders department of Belgium national radio. Ed Pien (born February 23, 1958) is a Canadian contemporary artist, known for his drawings and large-scale drawing-based installations inspired by multiple sources (Inuit as well as European and Chinese) and traditions, printmaking, paper cuts and video and photography. Life Pien was born in 1958 in Taipei, Taiwan, emigrating to Canada at the age of 11 with his family. At a young age, he began to draw and feels drawing propels everything he does. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario (1982) and a Master of Fine Arts from York University (1984). Pien lives and works in Toronto, where he was a professor in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto. Bian Que (; 407 – 310 BC) was an ancient Chinese figure traditionally said to be the earliest known Chinese physician during the Warring States period. His real name is said to be Qin Yueren (), but his medical skills were so amazing that people gave him the same name as the (original) legendary doctor Bian Que, from the time of the Yellow Emperor. He was a native of the State of Qi. Life and legend According to the legend recorded in the ''Records of the Grand Historian'' (), he was gifted with clairvoyance from a deity when he was working as an attendant at a hostel that catered to the nobility. Bian Zhilin (, 1910–2000) was a 20th-century Chinese poet, translator and literature researcher. Bian was born in Haimen, Jiangsu on December 8, 1910, and liked to read classical and modern Chinese poems when he was very young. In 1929, he entered the English department of Beijing University to study. During this time he was greatly influenced by the English romantic poems and French symbolic poems, and began to write poems by himself. The poetry anthology ''The Han Garden Collection'' () co-written by Bian, Li Guangtian and He Qifang, was published in 1936. Bian's poems were related to the Crescent School () which advocated modern metrical poetry, but his style was closer to the Chinese symbolists.
