Pielaveden Sampo
Pielaveden Sampo is a professional volleyball club based in Pielavesi, a small town in Eastern Finland. The club is one of the most successful teams in the Finland volleyball league. The team has become a national champion in the national volleyball league three times, in 2004, 2005, and 2009, and has been the first runner-up in 2001, 2007, 2008, and 2010. Sampo has also won a bronze medal in 2002 and 2003. There have also been plenty of famous players playing on the team, e.g. Olli Kunnari and Urpo Sivula. One of Sampo's owners is a well-known volleyball player, Tuomas Sammelvuo. History Sampo's first season in the Finnish Champion league was season 1998/1999. The next year Sampo became the first runner-up, followed by two bronze medals in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, Sampo won its first National Championship, clinching the same title again the following year. Olli-Pekka Ojansivu
Olli-Pekka "Lelu" Ojansivu (born 31 December 1987) is a retired Finnish professional volleyball player who was a member of the Finland men's national volleyball team. Career Ojansivu started his career in Vammalan Lentopallo. When Ojansivu turned sixteen years old he didn't go to Kuortane like many promising junior players do. He stayed in Vammala and started training in Finnish league team Vammalan Lentopallo. He played his first game in Finnish Champion league at the age of 16 in season 2004. His first whole season in Finnish Champion league was season 2006. He was best server in the whole league and ranked fifth amongst spikers. After the season Finnish volleyball federation chose him as the best newcomer in the league. 2005 season in Vammala was also great and Ojansivu ranked as 2nd best server in the whole league and was again 5th best spiker in league. Matti Oivanen
Matti Tapio Oivanen (born 26 May 1986 in Huittinen) is a Finnish volleyball player, a member of Finland men's national volleyball team and Finnish club Hurrikaani Loimaa. His twin brother is Mikko Oivanen also volleyball player. Career Matti Oivanen was born on 26 May 1986 in Huittinen, Finland, the same day as his brother Mikko Oivanen. He began his volleyball career with his brother, playing for Kiikoisten Kirma. During this time, the pair was selected by coaches for the Finland youth national volleyball team. They moved to Kuortane, Finland, to attend high school, where they trained with the national team until graduation.
