Piedade (Lajes Do Pico)
Piedade is a civil parish in the municipality of Lajes do Pico on the island of Pico, the Portuguese Azores. The population in 2011 was 844, in an area of 12.81 km2. History The parish was founded after 1506, from the historical registers of the time. The 1755 Lisbon earthquake affected the community, resulting in the destruction of many homes and the parochial church of the time. Before their destruction by phylloxera plague, the vineyards in this location were great producers of the popular Verdelho wines, becoming one of the more important agricultural centres on the island. Piedade, Goa
Piedade is an island village located in Ilhas (also known as Tiswadi), a northern district in the state of Goa, India, and named after Our Lady of Compassion. The name comes from the Portuguese word , which means "compassion". It lies 23 km east of the state capital, Panjim, between the taluks of Satari (to the north) and Ponda (to the south). Other nearby villages are Amona (3 km), Volvoi (3 km), Surla (4 km), Cudnem (4 km), Betqui, and Candola (5 km). The local language is Konkani. Diana Patrícia Silveira da Piedade (born 22 April 1985 - Lagos, Portugal) is a Portuguese rock singer and songwriter. In February 2010, Diana finished as the runner-up in 2009 season 3 of '' Ídolos'', the Portuguese version of Pop Idol, a known musical tv show. Biography With a powerful raspy and soulful voice, this charismatic rock figure was considered in 2010 one of Portugal’s upcoming voices.
