Pie Island
Pie Island (French: ''Île Pâté'', or simply ''Le Pâté'') is an island in Lake Superior, Ontario, Canada, located about south of Thunder Bay and north of Isle Royale, Michigan. It is about long with an area of . Pie Island is readily visible from the shoreline and high parts of the city of Thunder Bay. When a municipality was created in 1873 by the Ontario Legislature to govern the settlements around Thunder Bay, Pie Island was included in the Municipality of Shuniah. It formed part of Island Ward until 1936 when the Island Ward was abolished by the Ontario Legislature at the request of the municipality. After a land claim which ended in 2011, much of the island has been returned to the Fort William First Nation. There are a number of summer cottages located on the southern tip of the island. In user interface design, a pie menu or radial menu is a circular context menu where selection depends on direction. It is a graphical control element. A pie menu is made of several "pie slices" around an inactive center and works best with stylus input, and well with a mouse. Pie slices are drawn with a hole in the middle for an easy way to exit the menu. Pie menus work well with keyboard acceleration, particularly four and eight item menus, on the cursor keys and the number pad. A goal of pie menus is to provide a smooth, reliable gestural style of interaction for novices and experts. A slice can lead to another pie menu; selecting this may center the pointer in the new menu. Pan Island Expressway
The Pan Island Expressway (Abbreviated as: PIE) is the oldest and longest expressway in Singapore. It is also Singapore's longest road. The expressway runs from the East Coast Parkway near Changi Airport in the east to Tuas in the west and has a total length of . Initially conceived by the Public Works Department in the 1960s as part of road expansions for handling rising traffic volumes, work on the PIE commenced in 1964. The first section, Jalan Toa Payoh, was completed by 1969. Construction of the other segments of the expressway were carried out in the 1970s. The initial expressway, from Jalan Boon Lay to the East Coast Parkway, was completed in June 1982. The PIE was then realigned and extended further westward to Tuas between 1991 and 1993. A pie (abbreviated as Ps) was a unit of currency in India, Burma and Pakistan until 1947. It was the smallest currency unit, equal to of a paisa, of an anna or of a rupee. During the mid-nineteenth century, one pie was worth 12 cowry. Minting of the pie ended in 1942, though it remained in circulation for a further five years. Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a student-run organization that promotes the study of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, collectively known as STEM fields. The organization was established in 2008 as a non-profit corporation by University of California, Berkeley student, Xiao-Yu Fu. Pacific International Enterprises (PIE) was an American film production company and film distributor, founded by Arthur R. Dubs as a producer of family films. Pacific International Enterprises was a privately held company that had been in business for over thirty years as ''"A Universal Force in Family Film Entertainment"''. Their films have been continually licensed and re-licensed for television by various channels such as HBO, Disney, TNT, CBS and in over 100 countries worldwide. The Uruguayan Youth Standing or Uruguayan Youth at Attention ( es, Juventud Uruguaya de Pie) was a right to far-right student organization in Uruguay during the 1970s. This relatively short-lived organization (it was dissolved in 1974) had a Patriotic and anti-Communist orientation and was opposed to the insurgency of the Tupamaros and other far-left organizations. It experienced rapid growth, but its armed struggle efforts were relatively less successful. A factional undercurrent of the group desired a national revolution along the lines of Falangism. The main colours of their flag represent the two traditional major Uruguayan political parties: the National Party (Uruguay), National Party (white) and the Colorado Party (Uruguay), Colorado Party (red). Combat stress reaction (CSR) is acute behavioral disorganization as a direct result of the trauma of war. Also known as "combat fatigue", "battle fatigue", or "battle neurosis", it has some overlap with the diagnosis of acute stress reaction used in civilian psychiatry. It is historically linked to shell shock and can sometimes precurse post-traumatic stress disorder. Combat stress reaction is an acute reaction that includes a range of behaviors resulting from the stress of battle that decrease the combatant's fighting efficiency. The most common symptoms are fatigue, slower reaction times, indecision, disconnection from one's surroundings, and the inability to prioritize.
