Geoffrey Pidcock
Air Vice Marshal Geoffrey Arthur Henzell Pidcock, (6 November 1897 – 12 February 1976) was a senior officer in the Royal Air Force. After becoming a flying ace in the First World War, credited with six aerial victories, he remained in the newly created [oyal Air Force after the war, serving as a senior officer during the Second World War and specializing in the development of armaments. He retired in 1951. Early life and education Pidcock was born in Eastbourne, Sussex, and was educated at St Cyprian's School there, and then at Haileybury and Imperial Service College, Haileybury College, Hertfordshire, from 1911. He left school in February 1915, and joined the Royal Flying Corps as a cadet in April 1916. First World War Pidcock completed his basic flight training, and was awarded Royal Aero Club Aviators' Certificate No. 3259 on 17 July 1916, being commissioned as a second lieutenant (on probation) the same day. Laura Pidcock
Laura Pidcock (born 19 August 1987) is a British former Labour Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North West Durham from 2017 until 2019, when she lost her seat in what was the worst defeat for the Labour Party since 1935. She served as Shadow Secretary of State for Employment Rights in Jeremy Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet. In the 2019 parliamentary election, she lost her seat to the Conservative Richard Holden, who won the constituency with a majority of 1,144. Pidcock was elected to the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party in November 2020, from which she resigned in January 2022. She is currently the National Secretary of the People's Assembly Against Austerity. Thomas Pidcock (born 30 July 1999) is a British cyclist who currently competes in the cyclo-cross, mountain bike and road bicycle racing disciplines of the sport for UCI WorldTeam . After a prodigious junior and under-23 career with World Championship victories in all three of these disciplines, Pidcock turned professional in 2021. Since then his biggest victories have been the cross-country mountain biking at the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2022 and the prestigious spring classic, Strade Bianche in 2023. Across all three disciplines, he has won numerous other races, with his biggest victory on the road in his first season being the 2021 Brabantse Pijl road classic. Pidcock's Canal
Pidcock's Canal was a canal in Gloucestershire, England, which connected ironworks at Upper Forge and Lower Forge, and also ran to an inlet from the River Severn called Lydney Pill. It was constructed from 1778 onwards, and there were three locks below Middle Forge. Following the construction of the Lydney Canal in 1813, the canal connected to that, rather than Lydney Pill, and it was disused after 1840, by which time a horse-drawn tramway had been built up the valley of The Lyd. The tramway was eventually relaid as a steam railway and is now preserved as the Dean Forest Railway. Most of the canal, colloquially called ''The Cut'', still exists below Middle Forge. History Large parts of the parish of Lydney were organised as an estate, which had been managed by the Bathurst family since 1723. Pidcock Creek is a tributary of the Delaware River in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Rising in Buckingham Township, it flows into the Delaware in Solebury Township after a short side trip within Upper Makefield Township. History Pidcock Creek was named for John Pidcock, early settler, occupying in 1698, and purchasing on 31 May 1701 from Gilbert Wheeler, the tract later known as the Thompson-Neely tract.
