Pictureland
''Pictureland'' (1911) is a silent film starring Isabel Rea and King Baggot, released by Independent Moving Pictures (IMP), and possibly directed by Thomas H. Ince. The film was made on location in Cuba. Plot Americans arrive at their hotel in Cuba in a car, to make a movie. Romantic complications ensue while the cast and crew attempt to finish the movie. King Baggot
William King Baggot (November 7, 1879 – July 11, 1948) was an American actor, film director and screenwriter. He was an internationally famous movie star of the silent film era. The first individually publicized leading man in America, Baggot was referred to as "King of the Movies," "The Most Photographed Man in the World" and "The Man Whose Face Is As Familiar As The Man In The Moon." Baggot appeared in over 300 motion pictures from 1909 to 1947; wrote 18 screenplays; and directed 45 movies from 1912 to 1928, including '' The Lie'' (1912), '' Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman'' (1925) and ''The House of Scandal'' (1928). He also directed William S. Hart in his most famous western, ''Tumbleweeds'' (1925). Isabel Rea
Isabel Rea (born in 1889 in Coxsackie, New York), also sometimes credited as Isabel Rae, was an American film actress of the silent era, specifically the decade of the 1910s. In Daniel Blum's ''A Pictorial History of the Silent Screen'' she is credited in a photograph as Isabel Rea, member of the original Independent Moving Pictures (IMP) Film Company in 1911, alongside actors such as Mary Pickford. Further in the book she is credited as Isabel Rae in a photograph for Universal Studios. Apart from her work in silent films, little is known of her and her whereabouts after approximately 1918. She died September 14, 1961, in Coxsackie at the age of 72, under the name Isabelle Copleston. The Independent Moving Pictures Company (IMP) was a motion picture studio and production company founded in 1909 by Carl Laemmle. The company was based in New York City, with production facilities in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1912, IMP merged with several other production companies to form Universal Film Manufacturing Company, later re-named Universal Pictures Company with Laemmle as president. Mary Pickford (1892–1979) was a Canadian-American motion picture actress, producer, and writer. During the silent film era she became one of the first great celebrities of the cinema and a popular icon known to the public as "America's Sweetheart". Pickford was born Gladys Louise Smith in Toronto and began acting on stage in 1900. She started her film career in the United States in 1909. Initially with the Biograph film company, she moved to the Independent Motion Picture Company (IMP) in 1911, then briefly to the Majestic Film Company later that same year, followed by a return to Biograph in 1912. After appearing in over 150 short films during her years with these studios she began working in features with Zukor's Famous Players Film Company, a studio which eventually became part of Paramount Pictures.
