Pictured Within
''Pictured Within'' was the first studio album from Deep Purple's Jon Lord in sixteen years. It features performances from Sam Brown, Miller Anderson, Pete York and Thijs van Leer among others. ''Pictured Within'' was released in October 1998 by Virgin Classics. "Wait a While", one of the few non-instrumental tracks off the album, performed by Sam Brown, was issued as a single in 1999. In addition, Jon Lord played a short tour of Germany in May 1999 to promote the album. Jon Lord
John Douglas Lord (9 June 194116 July 2012) was an English orchestral and rock composer, pianist, and Hammond organ player known for his pioneering work in fusing rock with classical or baroque forms, especially with the British rock band Deep Purple. He also spent time in the bands Whitesnake, Paice Ashton Lord, The Artwoods, The Flower Pot Men and Santa Barbara Machine Head. In 1968, Lord co-founded Deep Purple, a hard rock band of which he was regarded as the leader in its early years. Together with the other members, he collaborated on most of his band's most popular songs. Lord's distinctive organ playing during Deep Purple's hard rock period was essential to the band's signature heavy sound and contributed to the early development of heavy metal. He and drummer Ian Paice were the only continuous presence in the band between 1968 and 1976, and also from when it was re-established, in 1984, until Lord's retirement in 2002. ''Before I Forget'' is a 1982 album by Jon Lord, featuring a largely conventional eight-song line-up, no orchestra. The bulk of the songs are either mainstream rock tracks ("Hollywood Rock and Roll", "Chance on a Feeling") or, specifically on Side Two, a series of very English classical piano ballads sung by mother and daughter duo, Vicki Brown and Sam Brown (singer), Sam Brown (wife and daughter of entertainer Joe Brown (singer), Joe Brown) and vocalist Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, Elmer Gantry. Sam Brown (singer)
Samantha Brown (born 7 October 1964) is an English singer, musician and songwriter. Brown is a blue-eyed soul and jazz singer, and ukulele and piano player. She came to prominence in the late 1980s as a solo artist, and released six singles that entered the UK Singles Chart during the 1980s and 1990s. Her solo singles, sometimes dealing with lost love, include " Stop!", " This Feeling", "Can I Get a Witness", "Kissing Gate", " With a Little Love" and "Just Good Friends". Miller Anderson (musician)
Miller Anderson (born 12 April 1945) is a UK-based blues guitarist and singer. He worked extensively with Ian Hunter in the formative years of the 1960s, before either of them achieved significant success. They worked in bands such as the Scenery and At Last The 1958 Rock 'n' Roll Show (later called Charlie Woolfe) and Anderson is referenced in the title track of Hunter's 1976 album ''All American Alien Boy'' ("well I remember all the good times me and Miller enjoyed, up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy"). Anderson would later guest on two Hunter solo albums. Apart from pursuing his solo career, he was a member of the Keef Hartley Band. Pete York
Peter York (born 15 August 1942 in Redcar, Yorkshire, England) is a British rock drummer who has been performing since the 1960s. Biography Born in Redcar, he attended the Nottingham High School and learnt to play the trumpet and snare drum in a school band, he also attended Trent College. Upon leaving school he embarked on a commercial apprenticeship. He was one of the original members of the Spencer Davis Group, along with Spencer Davis and the brothers Steve and Muff Winwood. York stayed with the band until 1969. He left the Spencer Davis Group to form Hardin and York with Eddie Hardin. They played as Hardin York at Rockpalast. Eric Clapton's Powerhouse was a short lived blues band in 1966. Thijs van Leer (pronounced: ; born 31 March 1948) is a Dutch singer and keyboardist, best known as the founding member of the rock band Focus as its primary vocalist, keyboardist, and flautist. Born and raised in Amsterdam among a musical family, van Leer took up the piano and flute as a child and pursued them at university and music academies. From 1967 to 1969, van Leer performed in a theatre cabaret act headed by Ramses Shaffy as his backing vocalist and musician, recorded singles as a solo artist, and produced, arranged, and conducted music for Bojoura. Colin Hodgkinson
Colin Hodgkinson (born 14 October 1945, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England) is a British rock, jazz and blues bassist, who has been active since the 1960s. Career Hodgkinson played in several bands, but was even more prolific as a session and studio musician.
