Picasso's Poetry
Picasso's written works, that is, works created by Pablo Picasso, are often overlooked in discussion of his long and varied career in the mediums of painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, papier-mâché, (photography), assemblage, ready-mades, printing, ceramics and theatre designs. Despite being immersed in the literary sphere for many years, Picasso did not produce any writing himself until the age of 53. In 1935 he ceased painting, drawing and sculpting, and committed himself to the art of poetry; which in turn was briefly abandoned to focus upon singing. Although he soon resumed work in his previous fields, Picasso continued in his literary endeavours and wrote hundreds of poems, concluding with ''The Burial of the Count of Orgaz'' in 1959. Pablo Picasso
Pablo Ruiz Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and Scenic design, theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (, , ; 5 July 1889 – 11 October 1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic. The Dream And Lie Of Franco
''The Dream and Lie of Franco'' is a series of two sheets of prints, comprising 18 individual images, and an accompanying prose poem, by Pablo Picasso produced in 1937. Jaime Sabartés
Jaume Sabartés i Gual ( ca, Jaume Sabartés i Gual, es, Jaime Sabartés y Gual, born in Barcelona, 10 June 1881 - died in Paris, 12 February 1968), was a Catalan Spanish artist, poet and writer. He was a close friend of Pablo Picasso and later became his secretary/administrator. Early life Sabartés was born at 84 Sant Pere Més Baix Street in Barcelona (carrer de Sant Pere Més Baix, 84). His father, Francisco Sabartés Obach, was a primary school teacher originally from Oliana. His mother, Maria Gual Oromí, was born in Barcelona. According to Francoise Gilot, Sabartés was a cousin of Joan Miró. In 1901 Sabartés studied fine arts and sculpture under Manuel Fuxà at the Escola de la Llotja and under the pen name of Jacobus Sabartés wrote prose and poetry and collaborated with the ''Joventut'' magazine. André Robert Breton (; 19 February 1896 – 28 September 1966) was a French writer and poet, the co-founder, leader, and principal theorist of surrealism.
