Piast Nowa Ruda
KS Piast Nowa Ruda is Polish sports club from Nowa Ruda in Lower Silesia. It is most well known for its football teams, despite lack of on-field success, which includes junior and women's teams. The club also has archery, athletics, swimming, volleyball, table tennis and skiing sections. History On 11 July 1946, a sports club was established by the local coal mine by the name ''KS Nowa Ruda'' and its history has been intertwined with that of the local mine. That same year the name changed to ''Klub Sportowy Węglowiec''. In 1949, another name change meant that the club was called ''KS Górnik''. In 1955 ,a merger of the club with another local team Włókniarz Nowa Ruda caused the new club to become ''ZKS Piast Nowa Ruda'', a name which became legally recognised in 1957. II liga (Druga Liga, ), currently named eWinner II liga due to sponsorship reasons by eWinner, is a Polish football league that sits at the third tier of the Polish football league system. Until the end of the 2007–08 season ''II Liga'' referred to a league at the 2nd tier, although this changed with the formation of the Ekstraklasa as the top level league in Poland. Currently, II liga is below I liga and above III liga. Since the 2014/15 season there is one group making up the II Liga unlike in previous seasons when there were two groups (''West'' and ''East''). The league consists of 18 teams. Two first teams win promotion to the I Liga. Teams from places 15–18 are demoted to the III Liga. The Polish Cup in football ( pl, Puchar Polski w piłce nożnej ) is an elimination tournament for Polish football clubs, held continuously from 1950, and is the second most important national title in Polish football after the Ekstraklasa title. Due to mass participation of teams, the tournament is often called ''The Cup of the Thousand Teams'' ( pl, Puchar Tysiąca Drużyn ). Participation is open to any club registered with the Polish FA, regardless of whether it competes in any league in the national pyramid. Reserve and veteran teams are also eligible, with reserve teams reaching the final on two occasions (and winning it once). The Cup is popular among lower-level teams, as it gives them a chance to play better known sides.
