Pialligo Avenue
Pialligo Avenue is a major arterial road in Canberra, the Capital city of Australia. It forms part of the corridor linking the city to Canberra Airport at Pialligo, and Fairbairn, Canberra, Fairbairn. It is also the most direct route from Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Queanbeyan to the airport precinct. Completed in 2009, a $16 million upgrade of Pialligo Avenue associated with the expansion of the airport saw the road upgraded to dual carriageway standard between its western terminus at the Monaro Highway and the Brindabella Business Park. These works included a grade separated intersection providing access to the redeveloped passenger terminal via a loop road. Substantial upgrades were also carried out at the intersection with Fairbairn Avenue. An estimated 30,000 vehicles use the road daily. The name ''Pialligo'' has been used for the area since at least 1820, and is probably of Aboriginal origin. It was also the name for the parish in the area. Oaks Estate is a township situated immediately on the northern side of the Australian Capital Territory border abutting the township of Queanbeyan in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. Monaro Highway is a highway in Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory, in Australia, linking in Victoria to Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) via the Monaro region. From its southern terminus, it follows the nearby Cann River upstream towards the New South Wales border through heavily forested terrain. Fairbairn Avenue is a major arterial road in the eastern suburbs of Canberra, the capital city of Australia. The road travels from a junction with Pialligo Avenue near Canberra Airport to the Australian War Memorial, a distance of . It is the primary access route to the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell Park and Mount Ainslie. Fairbairn Avenue carries the Alternative National Highway 23 designation for a short distance between Majura Road and Morshead Drive. Fairbairn (), formerly RAAF Base Fairbairn, is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base, located in Australia's national capital, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
