Phunga kaGumede was a King of the Zulu people in modern-day South Africa. He succeeded his father, Gumede kaZulu Gumede kaZulu was chief of the Zulu people in the 18th century. He was the son of Zulu kaNtombhela and was succeeded by his son, Phunga kaGumede. King Mageba kaGumede (c. 1667c. 1745) was an early king of the Zulu Kingdom. Mageba is said to have succeeded his twin brother King Phunga as leader of the Zulu clan on Phunga's death in about 1727. During the 18th century, elements of Enlightenment thinking culminated in the American, French, and Haitian Revolutions.
