Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital () is the main hospital of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand and is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital. It is an affiliated hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University and Phramongkutklao College of Medicine. History After the death of King Chulalongkorn in 1910, the local authorities and citizens funded for a hospital in memory of King Chulalongkorn and this was known as "Panchamathirachuthit Hospital". In 1939, the Ministry of Public Health planned for the construction of a new hospital and construction started the following year, initially with one OPD building. Most patients came by water transport, and thus in 1942, a canal was dug from the Chao Phraya River surrounding Ayutthaya's old town to the hospital. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ( th, พระนครศรีอยุธยา, ) is the capital district ('' amphoe Mueang'') of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, central Thailand. Its former name as the capital city of Ayutthaya Kingdom was "Krungthep Thawarawadi Si Ayutthaya" ( th, กรุงเทพทวารวดีศรีอยุธยา). History According to George Coedes, tradition states Ramathibodi I founded Dvaravati Sri Ayudhya in 1350. Created in 1897, the district was originally called Rop Krung (รอบกรุง). Phramongkutklao College of Medicine ( th, วิทยาลัยแพทยศาสตร์พระมงกุฎเกล้า) is the first and only medical cadet school in Thailand. The college is the seventh medical school established in Thailand by a royal command of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Phramongkutklao College of Medicine is an affiliated college of Mahidol University. Chuan Leekpai ( th, ชวน หลีกภัย, , ; ; born 28 July 1938) is a Thai politician who is the current President of the National Assembly of Thailand as well as the incumbent Speaker of the Thai House of Representatives. Previously he served as the Thai prime minister from 20 September 1992 to 19 May 1995 and again from 9 November 1997 to 9 February 2001. Vajiralongkorn ( th, วชิราลงกรณ; , ; born 28 July 1952) is the King of Thailand. He is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. In 1972, at the age of 20, he was made crown prince by his father. Hospitals in Thailand are operated by both the public and private sector, to provide medical services for prevention, cure and rehabilitation of patients with medical and health-related conditions.
