	Phipps Bridge Tram Stop Phipps Bridge tram stop is a stop on the Tramlink service in the London Borough of Merton. The stop is named after Phipps Bridge Road, an adjacent residential street. The tram stop consists of a single island platform. Immediately to the west of the station is a single-track section which reaches as far as Morden Road tram stop. To the east, double track continues to the nearby Belgrave Walk tram stop, which is clearly visible from Phipps Bridge tram stop. Access to the platform is via pedestrian level crossings over the tracks. To the north a footpath gives access to Phipps Bridge Road. To the south, a gateway gives pedestrian access to the National Trust's Morden Hall Park, which borders the line to the south for a considerable distance each side of the stop. It is a City of Pittsburgh historic landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The gardens were founded in 1893 by steel and real-estate magnate Henry Phipps Jr. as a gift to the City of Pittsburgh. Its purpose is to educate and entertain the people of Pittsburgh with formal gardens (Roman, English, etc.) and various species of exotic plants (palm trees, succulents, bonsai, orchids, etc.). Currently, the facilities house elaborate gardens within the fourteen room conservatory itself and on the adjoining grounds. Early brewing history The company began in the South Northamptonshire town of Towcester where founder Pickering Phipps started brewing in 1801. A second brewery was opened on Bridge Street, Northampton in 1817. All production was moved to Northampton in 1901 following a fire which destroyed the original brewery. Trading as P. Phipps & Co. under the chairmanship of Pickering Phipps II (1836–1890), the company grew to become the largest brewer in the Midlands by the end of the 19th century.
