The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest continuously professional basketball league existing in the world after the National Basketball Association, NBA,Bartholomew, Rafe. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Chris Ross (basketball)
Christopher Michael Ross (born March 9, 1985) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Ross played high school basketball at John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, where as a junior, he sank a 50-foot half-court buzzer-beater to give Jay the 2002 Class 5A state basketball championship. After high school he played college basketball at McLennan Community College and Marshall University. Ross can play both guard positions and is currently the starting point guard for the Beermen. In his tenure with the Beermen, he is known for his defensive skills, thus recognized as one of the best defenders in the league. Wynne Arboleda
Wynne Arboleda (born November 26, 1976) is a Filipino former basketball player of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is known by his moniker "The Snatcher" in reference to his steals during games. Career Arboleda first played for the Laguna Lakers in the MBA and later entered the PBA in 2000. Freddie Abuda (born October 8, 1969) is a Filipino former basketball player. He was drafted by Purefoods, then known Coney Island Ice Cream, in the 2nd round as the 14th overall pick. Abuda played eleven seasons in the PBA, most of them with the San Miguel Beermen. Abuda gained the moniker The Scavenger as a large proportion of his points were the result of his scoring on a follow-up after rebounding a teammate's missed shot while playing in the Philippine Basketball Associations (PBA). He began his career as a reserve player for Purefoods and was later traded to San Miguel Beer where he developed into an important role player. Jean Marc Prado Pingris Jr. (born October 16, 1981) is a Filipino former professional basketball player. Known as one of the best defenders and rebounders in PBA history, he was named one of the league's 40 Greatest Players.
