Philippe Maystadt
Philippe M.P.J. Maystadt (14 March 1948 – 7 December 2017) was a Belgian politician who served as Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance, and Deputy Prime Minister. He was President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) from 2000 to 2011. Personal life and studies Philippe Maystadt was born in Verviers (Belgium) in 1948. He obtained a PhD in Law at the Catholic University of Louvain and gained a Master of Arts in public administration at Claremont Graduate School, Los Angeles, USA. He was a part-time professor at the Law Faculty of the Catholic University of Louvain. Maystadt died on 7 December 2017 aged 69 years. Career Maystadt started his career as assistant professor at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. Petit-Rechain
Verviers (; wa, Vervî) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. The municipality consists of the following districts: Ensival, Heusy, Lambermont, Petit-Rechain, Stembert, and Verviers. It is also the center of an agglomeration that includes Dison and Pepinster, making it the second biggest in the province and an important regional center, located roughly halfway between Liège and the German border. Water has played an important role in the town's economy, notably in the development first of its textile and later its tourist industries. Brian Unwin
Sir James Brian Unwin (born 21 September 1935) is a former British civil servant and an author. He was chairman of the board of HM Customs and Excise and president of the European Investment Bank. He is also an author of historical non-fiction. Education and career James Brian Unwin studied at New College, Oxford and Yale University. He joined the British Civil Service in 1960, initially working for the Commonwealth Relations Office. From 1968 he was at HM Treasury, seconded from 1981 to 1987 to the Cabinet Office. There he eventually held the post of Deputy Secretary. He was chairman of the board of HM Customs and Excise (1987–1993) and became president of the European Investment Bank in 1993, a position which he held until his retirement in 1999. A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a head of state (including the Pope) or representative for service to the monarch, the church or the country, especially in a military capacity.
