Philippe Chatrier
Philippe Chatrier (; 2 February 1928 – 22 June 2000) was a French tennis player. After his playing career ended, he became a journalist, and was then involved in sports administration. He was president of the French Tennis Federation for 20 years, from 1973 to 1993, and president of the International Tennis Federation for 14 years, from 1977 to 1991. Life and career Chatrier was born in Créteil in France. He was the French junior tennis champion in 1945. After retiring, he became a journalist. He founded the magazine ''Tennis de France'' in 1953, and also sports and news editor for the Paris daily newspaper ''Paris-Presse''. Chatrier married tennis player Susan Partridge in 1953. They later divorced. Chatrier later married a second time to French golfer Claudine Cros. Chatrier took part in the merger of professional and amateur tennis organisations in 1968. Laurence Broderick
Laurence Broderick, , is a British sculptor. His best known work is 'The Bull', a public sculpture erected in 2003 at the Bull Ring, Birmingham. ''The Bull'' is about 4.5 meters long, about 190 cm high and weighs about 6.5 tons. It is one of the largest bronze animal sculptures in the country. His work consists largely of figurative carvings in stone and editions in bronze. Early life Broderick was born in Bristol, in the west of England, in 1935, and attended Bembridge School on the Isle of Wight. He studied painting, illustration and sculpture under Ray Millard and Geoffrey Deeley at the Regent Street Polytechnic from 1952 to 1957, and with Sidney Harpley and Keith Godwin at the Hammersmith School of Art from 1964 to 1965. Philippe Chatrier Award
The Philippe Chatrier Award is an annual International Tennis Federation (ITF) award. It was introduced in 1996 to recognise individuals or organisations considered to have made outstanding contributions to tennis globally, both on and off the court. The award is the ITF's highest honour and is named after the former French tennis player Philippe Chatrier, who was President of the governing body between 1977-1991.
