Philip Rambow
Philip Rambow (born August 1949) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and guitarist, who fronted The Winkies, had a solo career, and worked with Brian Eno, Mick Ronson, and Kirsty MacColl among others. Biography Born in Montreal, he studied at McGill University and started playing in clubs and at student functions, taking his stage name from the poet Arthur Rimbaud. He formed a band, Missing Links, before moving to New York in 1970, but failed in several attempts to win a recording contract. He moved to London in 1973 after hearing that A&R man Muff Winwood liked one of his tapes. In London, he jammed with pub rock band Ducks Deluxe and met Paul Kennerley, a manager who was putting together a new band, The Winkies. Ellen Foley
Ellen Foley (born 1951) is an American singer and actress who has appeared on Broadway and television, where she co-starred in the sitcom ''Night Court'' for one season. In music, she has released five solo albums but is best known for her collaborations with rock singer Meat Loaf. Early life and education Foley was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of John and Virginia B. Foley. She attended Webster University. Career Vocalist Foley gained public recognition through singing a duet with Meat Loaf on the hit single "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" from the 1977 album ''Bat Out of Hell''. Foley's part was recorded individually and in one take with Meat Loaf present in the room so she could sing in character. Although Karla DeVito (who toured with Meat Loaf in support of the album) is featured in the music video, DeVito is lip synching to Foley's vocals. Martin Belmont (born 21 December 1948) is an English rock and country-blues guitarist, best known for being a founding member of Graham Parker & The Rumour. Life and career Belmont was born in Bromley, Kent, England. After working as a roadie for Brinsley Schwarz, in 1972 he formed Ducks Deluxe, issuing two albums on RCA. In 1975 he was a founding member of Graham Parker and the Rumour, who released six albums, and of The Rumour who recorded another three on their own. Bronze Records was an independent English record label founded in 1971 by record producer Gerry Bron on Oxford Street in London, eventually relocating to Chalk Farm. History Bron had been producing Uriah Heep for Vertigo Records, and he set up the new label for future Uriah Heep releases, along with Juicy Lucy, Richard Barnes, Eastern Alliance and Colosseum. Other subsequent acts included Gene Pitney, Osibisa, Paladin, Goldie, Manfred Mann's Earth Band (another Vertigo refugee), the Real Kids, Roxy Music's Andy Mackay, Sally Oldfield, Motörhead, Angel Witch, the Damned, GirlschoolBronzand Hawkwind.
