Philip Kissick Lawrence ( 1793 – May 19, 1841) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. Education and career Born in New York City, to Gilbert Lawrence and Margaret Kissick Lawrence, Lawrence graduated from Columbia University in 1812, received a Bachelor of Laws from Litchfield Law School in 1814, and received a master's degree from Columbia University in 1818. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1818. He moved to Louisiana and continued private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana until 1837. He was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was editor of the ''New Orleans Morning Post'' from 1835 to 1836. He was the United States Attorney for the Districts of Louisiana until 1837. He was a member of the Whig Party. Philip Lawrence (songwriter)
Philip Martin Lawrence II (born July 17, 1980) is an American songwriter and record producer best known for his work with the songwriting and production team The Smeezingtons, alongside Bruno Mars. He has won eight Grammy Awards for his work. Lawrence's latest recording project, '' 24K Magic'', won at the Grammys in the categories Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance. Lawrence is co-writer and co-producer on the majority of the songs released under these ventures. He also sings vocal with The Hooligans band who tours with Mars. He is also a voice actor, as he is the current voice of Sebastian since 2007, replacing Samuel E. Wright. Philip Lawrence is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Northumberland—Peterborough South in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election. He was appointed Shadow Minister of National Revenue in the Conservative Party's shadow cabinet on Sept. 8, 2020. Background Lawrence started his studies in Political Science at Brock University where he earned his BA. He went on to attend Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business to obtain his law degree and MBA. He started his practice in law with a focus on taxation and corporations. In 2008 he joined one of Canada's largest financial institution becoming the third generation in his family to work in Financial Services.
