Philip Klein (April 24, 1889 – June 8, 1935) was an American screenwriter.Solomon, p. 331 He worked on around forty films during his career in both the silent and sound eras. ''Riders of the Purple Sage'' is a 1931 American pre-Code Western film based upon the novel by Zane Grey, directed by Hamilton MacFadden, photographed by George Schneiderman, and starring George O'Brien and Marguerite Churchill. The picture was released by the Fox Film Corporation with a running time of 58 minutes and remains the third of five screen versions. It was the first sound version. Charles Klein
Charles Klein (January 7, 1867 – May 7, 1915) was an English-born playwright and actor who emigrated to America in 1883. Among his works was the libretto of John Philip Sousa's operetta, ''El Capitan''. Klein's talented siblings included the composer Manuel and the critic Herman Klein. He drowned during the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. Biography Klein was born in London, England to Hermann Klein and his wife Adelaide (née Soman).
