Philip F. Spaulding
Philip F. Spaulding (1912–2005) was a naval architect who lived and worked in Seattle, Washington. He played an immense role in shaping North America's ferries for more than half a century, and he also designed many yachts along the way. Detail Philip Spaulding was born on November 27, 1912, and died on May 5, 2005, at the age of 92. In 1952 he founded the marine design firm Philip F. Spaulding and Associates, which he led until his retirement in 1980. Spaulding was commissioned to design many ferries and other ships used on North America's West coast. Snoqualmie Valley
The Snoqualmie Valley is a farming and timber-producing region located along the Snoqualmie River in Western Washington, United States. The valley stretches from the confluence of the three forks of the river at North Bend to the confluence of the Snoqualmie River and the Skykomish River (home to the ''Skykomish / Skai-whamish'', a Snoqualmie band), forming the Snohomish River at Monroe. This stretch of the river includes Snoqualmie Falls. Towns in the valley are North Bend, Snoqualmie, Preston, Fall City, Carnation, and Duvall. Hops were the major crop of this region in the late 19th century. The valley is the ancestral home of the Snoqualmie people. The name Snoqualmie comes from the native word for "Moon the Transformer" and originates in the creation myth of the Snoqualmie people. The Puget Sound Navigation Company (PSNC) was founded by Charles E. Peabody in 1898. Today the company operates an international passenger and vehicle ferry service between Port Angeles, WA and Victoria, BC on the Coho. History In the past, the company operated an entire fleet of steamboats and ferries on Puget Sound in Washington and the Georgia Strait in British Columbia. Burnaby-class Ferry
The ''Burnaby'' class is a ship class of ferries in the BC Ferries' fleet, built between 1964 and 1965. There are two ships in this class: MV ''Queen of Burnaby'' and . Both are propelled by controllable-pitch propellers. Both were built with two Mirrlees National KVSSM, V-16, 4 stroke-cycle, diesel engines, each producing at 320 revolutions per minute.
