Philip Bond (actor)
Philip George William Bond (1 November 1934 – 17 January 2017) was a British actor best known for playing Albert Frazer in 24 episodes of the 1970s BBC nautical drama ''The Onedin Line''. Life and career Bond was born at 189 Uxbridge Street in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, to Welsh parents Matthew William Bond (1899–1951) and Blodwen (''née'' John; 1900–1981); he had an older brother, Ifor John Bond (1929–1992), and a twin sister, Shirley. Bond's first acting experience was at Burton Boys' Grammar School, where he was a pupil, and in addition attended classes at the School of Speech and Drama in Burton. In 1952 he joined the Central School of Speech and Drama (then based in rooms in the Royal Albert Hall), where contemporaries included Delena Kidd, Heather Sears and Ian Hendry. Burton-on-Trent
Burton upon Trent, also known as Burton-on-Trent or simply Burton, is a market town in the borough of East Staffordshire in the county of Staffordshire, England, close to the border with Derbyshire. In 2011, it had a population of 72,299. The demonym for residents of the town is ''Burtonian''. Burton is located south-west of Derby, north-west of Leicester, west-south-west of Nottingham and south of the southern entrance to the Peak District National Park. Burton is known for its brewing. The town grew up around Burton Abbey. Burton Bridge was also the site of two battles, in 1322, when Edward II defeated the rebel Earl of Lancaster and in 1643 when royalists captured the town during the First English Civil War. ''Fever Pitch'' is a 1997 film starring Colin Firth and Ruth Gemmell, based loosely on Nick Hornby's best-selling memoir, '' Fever Pitch: A Fan's Life'' (1992). Plot Hornby adapted the book for the screen and fictionalised the story, concentrating on Arsenal's First Division championship-winning season in 1988–89 and its effect on the protagonist's romantic relationship. Firth plays Paul Ashworth, the character based on Hornby, a teacher at a school in south Hertfordshire and his romance with Sarah Hughes (Ruth Gemmell), a new teacher who joins Ashworth's school. The film culminates with the real life events of Arsenal's match against title rivals Liverpool in the final game of the season on 26 May 1989, with a last-minute goal by Michael Thomas giving Arsenal the 2–0 win they needed to secure the title.
