Philbert Blair
Philbert Duncan Blair (born 30 October 1943) is a former Guyanese cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1968 to 1974. He toured with the West Indian cricket team in England in 1969 but did not play Test cricket. A fast bowler, Philbert Blair made his first-class debut for Guyana in 1967–68. When the West Indies Test team were away touring Australia and New Zealand in 1968-69 he was the leading wicket-taker in the Shell Shield, with 23 wickets at an average of 21.26. He took 5 for 60 against Jamaica and 5 for 63 against Trinidad. He was one of the four inexperienced pace bowlers chosen for the 1969 tour, alongside Vanburn Holder, John Shepherd and Grayson Shillingford, none of whom had played Test cricket. Blair played only nine of the 19 first-class matches, taking 14 wickets at 36.35, and the other three pace bowlers were preferred for the Tests. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Norman Preston, MBE (18 March 1903 – 6 March 1980) was an English cricket journalist. He began his career with the old Pardon's Cricket Reporting Agency in 1933 and served on three overseas tours as Reuters' correspondent. He succeeded his father, Hubert Preston, as editor of ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'' and was in charge for 29 editions from 1952 until his death in 1980. He was awarded the MBE in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Honours List in 1977. He was succeeded as editor of ''Wisden'' by John Woodcock. Grayson Shillingford
Grayson Cleophas Shillingford (25 September 1944 – 23 December 2009) was a West Indian cricketer who played in seven Test matches from 1969 to 1972. His cousin Irvine Shillingford also played Test cricket for the West Indies. Grayson Shillingford attended Dominica Grammar School in Roseau. He was a right-arm fast bowler who played for Windward Islands from 1967–68 to 1978–79. He toured England with the West Indies team in 1969 and 1973. His best first-class figures were 6 for 49 for the Combined Windward and Leeward Islands team against Trinidad in 1971–72. He received Dominica's Sisserou Award of Honour in 2009. He moved to Canada after his cricket career ended and lived in Toronto for 24 years. John Neil Shepherd (born 9 November 1943) is a Barbadian former cricketer who played in five Test matches for the West Indies cricket team between 1969 and 1971. Shepherd had a long career in English county cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. Vanburn Alonzo Holder (born 10 October 1945) is a Barbadian former first-class cricketer who played in 40 Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals for the West Indies cricket team between 1969 and 1979. A fast-medium bowler, he bowled alongside the likes of Charlie Griffith and Wes Hall. Holder, who also played for English county cricket side Worcestershire, was appointed an honorary vice president of the club in 2021. Playing career He debuted in the tour of England in 1969 and returned again in 1973 as part of an improving side which ended a 6½-year streak of not having won a Test series. In 1974 he was part of Worcestershire's Championship winning side and earlier in the year he scored his only first-class century, 122 for Barbados.
