The Philadelphia Stars are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are one of eight members of the United States Football League (USFL). They currently play their home games at Protective Stadium and Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, which also hosts the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers. History The Philadelphia Stars were one of eight teams that were officially announced as a USFL franchise on ''The Herd with Colin Cowherd'' on November 22, 2021. Protective Stadium
Protective Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium owned and operated by the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, U.S. Its naming rights are provided by the Protective Life company, which will pay $1 million per year for 15 years. The stadium replaced Legion Field as the home of the UAB Blazers football program. The Blazers played their first game in the stadium on October 2, 2021, and lost to Liberty 36–12. The Phillie Phanatic is the official mascot for the Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball team. He is a large, furry, green flightless bird with an extendable tongue. He performs various routines to entertain fans during baseball games at Citizens Bank Park and makes public relation and goodwill appearances for the Phillies. Martin Ashley Bayless (born October 11, 1962) is a former American football cornerback/safety and American football coach who is the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League (USFL). He played 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and played college football at Bowling Green State University. He holds the record for most career interceptions in NCAA history with 27. After retiring from the NFL in 1998, he joined the Buffalo Bills as a Front Office Executive in 2000.
