Phil Doyle (writer)
Phil Doyle (born 1967) is an Australian writer, poet and journalist. Doyle's debut play ''After The Rain'', was performed at Melbourne's Organ Factory Theatre. In 1998 mergemedia released his novella ''A Book About Things That Didn't Happen''. In 1999 he was the ACT finalist in Radio JJJ's Raw Comedy competition. Australian Literature
Australian literature is the written or literary work produced in the area or by the people of the Commonwealth of Australia and its preceding colonies. During its early Western history, Australia was a collection of British colonies; as such, its recognised literary tradition begins with and is linked to the broader tradition of English literature. Raw Comedy
Raw Comedy is an Australian annual competition for emerging stand-up comedians held by Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It was established in 1996 and is supported by national youth radio station Triple J. In 2011, there were 1,100 contestants. Heats take place in major Australian cities through January, February and March. State semi-finals and finals are held in the state capitals in March. The final is held as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April and televised on ABC. The winner of Raw Comedy is sent to the So You Think You're Funny competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
