Phelan Hill
Phelan Hill (born 21 July 1979) is a British rowing coxswain. He is a three-time world champion and an Olympic gold medallist. He competed in the Men's eight event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal. In 2016, he competed in the Men's eight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal. Early life Hill was born and brought up in Bedford, and attended Bedford School, where he first learnt to row. He later attended the University of Leicester where he graduated in 2001 with a degree in Law (LLB). Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. European Rowing Championships
The European Rowing Championships is an international Rowing regatta organised by FISA (the International Rowing Federation) for European rowing nations, plus Israel which, though not a member of the European federation is treated as a European nation for competition purposes. The championships date back to 1893, the year after FISA was founded. Over time, the competition grew in status and as it was not restricted to European countries, became regarded as the quasi-world championships. The World Rowing Championships were commenced in 1962 and the last European Championships were held in 1973 as from 1974, the World Championships became an annual event. The European Championships were re-introduced in 2007 but with a narrower focus on Europe. Tom Ransley
Thomas Matthew Ransley (born 6 September 1985) is a retired British rower. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he was part of the British crew that won the gold medal in the eight, was twice a World Champion and in 2015 was the European Champion in the men's coxless four. Early life Ransley attended Dulwich Preparatory School in Cranbrook, Kent. Following this, he went to The King's School, Canterbury and then went into higher education at the University of York and the University of Cambridge. Greg Searle
Gregory Mark Pascoe Searle (born 20 March 1972) is a British Olympic rower educated at Hampton School and London South Bank University. Career Greg Searle is an Olympic gold medalist, winning the coxed pairs event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics with his brother Jonny Searle and cox Garry Herbert. He also won a World Championships gold medal in 1993 with his brother. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he finished third in the coxless four event. Following Atlanta, he converted briefly to competing in the single scull (coached by Harry Mahon) where he won bronze at the 1997 World Rowing Championships and in the same year the single sculls' event at Henley Royal Regatta. He was a finalist in the men's pair at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with Ed Coode, finishing a disappointing and close fourth, having led much of the way. Moe Sbihi
Mohamed Karim Sbihi (born 27 March 1988) is a British rower. He is a three-time Olympian and Olympic medal winner. He won a gold medal in the coxless four at 2016 Rio Olympics, and at the 2012 London Olympics he was in the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He returned to the eight for the 2020 Tokyo games, again winning bronze. Early life Sbihi was born in Kingston upon Thames to a British mother and a Moroccan father. He attended Hollyfield Secondary School in Surbiton, before studying Sport Science with Health, Nutrition & Exercise at St. Mary's University College, Twickenham on a sports scholarship from 2006 to 2010. Alex Partridge
Alexander Matthew Partridge (born 25 January 1981 in San Francisco) is a British rower, and an Olympic silver and bronze medallist. Education Partridge started rowing at Monkton Combe School, Bath, and attended Oxford Brookes University to study Technology Management. James Foad
James Foad (born 20 March 1987) is an English rower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He was the 2015 European Champion in the men's pair, along with Matt Langridge. Biography James started rowing at the age of 11 at Itchen Rowing Club, following in his father's footsteps. By the time he was 17 he had won the Junior Sculls Championships for the Hants and Dorset region and was the youngest person to win this. The following year he trialled for the GB Junior Team and was selected to row in the M4+ at the World Junior Championships in Brandenburg. He raced with the senior men's squad in 2009, winning a bronze medal in the eight at the first World Cup in Banyoles, and was placed 8th in the second British men's four in Munich. Nathaniel “Noddy” Reilly-O'Donnell (born 13 April 1988) is a British rower educated at St Leonard's School, Durham and University College London. Biography Junior Started rowing age 12 at St Leonard's School, Durham. At the 2005 World Junior Championships, he finished 7th overall in the coxed four. At U16 level, he competed in the pair in the J16 GB v France Match. Both he and the GB team won the match. In 2006, he became World Junior Champion in the men's four.
