Phase IV (1974 Film)
''Phase IV'' is a 1974 science-fiction horror film. The only feature-length film directed by graphic designer and filmmaker Saul Bass, it stars Michael Murphy, Nigel Davenport and Lynne Frederick. The interiors of the film were shot at Pinewood Studios in England and the exterior locations were shot in Kenya, though the film is set in the Arizona desert in the United States. It was produced by Alced Productions and Paramount Pictures. The film was a box office flop and, as a result, this was the only feature film directed by Bass. It has since gained a cult following, due to TV airings beginning in 1975 and also being shown on ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' during the KTMA era. The film was inspired by H. G. Wells's 1905 short story "Empire of the Ants". A novelization of the script, written by Barry N. Malzberg, was published as ''Phase IV'' in November 1973. ''Phase IV'' is a 2002 Canadian direct-to-video action-thriller film starring Dean Cain and Brian Bosworth. It was directed by Bryan Goeres. Plot Journalist Simon Tate is investigating the apparently "unrelated" accidental deaths of several students at a local university. When his friend, Dr. Benjamin Roanic, becomes a prime suspect and is then subsequently murdered, Simon sets out to prove Roanic's innocence and establish a link between the deaths and an AIDS-related drug test program. Kasumi has served as the lead character of the ''Dead or Alive'' franchise since its premiere in 1996. She was a main character in the first, second and fifth games of the series and in the film '' DOA: Dead or Alive''. In the games' canon, Kasumi, also known as "The Kunoichi of Destiny", is a teenage ninja princess of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan. Phase 4 Films was a Canadian film distribution company based in Toronto. It had two branches in the United States: Los Angeles, California and Fort Mill, South Carolina. Its subsidiary kaboom! Phase 4 Stereo
Phase 4 Stereo was a recording process created by the U.K. Decca Records label in 1961. The process was used on U.K. Decca recordings and also those of its American subsidiary London Records during the 1960s. Phase 4 Stereo recordings were created with an innovative 10-channel, and later 20-channel, "recording console" (actually a mixing console. Those 10-channel and 20-channel console outputs for Phase 4 recordings were originally made on then-novel 4-track tape, but the innovation was in the special scoring used to maximize the technology. Normally in recording techniques of the early-to-mid-60s, to get the kind of layered sound realized in Phase 4 recordings, required multiple overdubs over multiple reels of tape, bouncing down and bouncing across to different recorders. Four-Phase Systems
Four-Phase Systems was a computer company, founded by Lee Boysel and others, which built one of the earliest computers using semiconductor main memory and MOS LSI logic. The company was incorporated in February 1969 and had moderate commercial success. It was acquired by Motorola in 1981. History The idea behind Four-Phase Systems began when Boysel was designing MOS components at Fairchild Semiconductor in 1967. Boysel wrote a manifesto explaining how a computer could be built from a small number of MOS chips. Fairchild made Boysel head of a MOS design group, which he used to design parts satisfying the requirements of his putative computer.
