Pfäffikon ZH Railway Station
Pfäffikon ZH (german: Bahnhof Pfäffikon ZH) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich (ZH) and municipality of Pfäffikon. The station is located on the Effretikon to Hinwil railway line. Services Pfäffikon ZH is an intermediate stop on Zurich S-Bahn service S3. During peak periods it also serves as the eastern terminus of S-Bahn service S19. During weekends, there is also a nighttime S-Bahn service (SN8) offered by ZVV. Effretikon–Hinwil Railway Line
The Effretikon to Hinwil railway line, also known as the ''Kempttalbahn'', is a railway line in the Swiss canton of Zurich. It runs from Effretikon, where it diverges from the Zurich to Winterthur line, to Wetzikon, where it connects with the Wallisellen to Rapperswil line, and Hinwil. The line is long, standard gauge, single track and electrified at supplied by overhead line. The Effretikon to Hinwil line was constructed between 1873 and 1876 by the Eisenbahngesellschaft Effretikon–Pfäffikon–Hinwil, but was operated from the beginning by the Swiss Northeastern Railway (NOB). The line passed to the Swiss Federal Railways in 1902, and was electrified in 1944. The S-Bahn is the name of hybrid urban- suburban rail systems serving a metropolitan region in German-speaking countries.
