Peyton Stearns
Peyton Mckenzie Stearns (born October 8, 2001) is an American professional tennis player. A former player at the University of Texas at Austin, Stearns turned professional in 2022. She has been ranked by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) as high as world No. 55 in singles and has also reached a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 152, both of which she attained in June 2023. In spring 2022, Stearns became the first Texas player to become the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion in women's tennis and soon elected to turn professional later that year. In her first full season on tour in 2023, Stearns earned her top 100 debut in April after reaching her first WTA Tour quarterfinal at the inaugural ATX Open in March before going on to contend for her first WTA title at the Copa Colsanitas the following month. 2023 French Open – Women's Singles
Defending champion Iga Świątek defeated Karolína Muchová in the final, 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 French Open. It was her third French Open title and fourth major title overall. Świątek became the third woman in the Open Era (after Monica Seles and Naomi Osaka) to win her first four major finals, and the youngest woman to win four majors since Serena Williams in 2002. Świątek also became the first player to defend the French Open title since Justine Henin in 2007, and the first woman to defend a major title since Serena Williams at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships. She has a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world, and is the highest-ranked Canadian in the history of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). WTA 1000 Tournaments
WTA 1000 tournaments is a category of tennis tournaments on the WTA Tour, governed by the Women's Tennis Association. The old WTA Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 tournaments merged into a single highest tier and it is implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. As of 2021, WTA 1000 tournaments include events with prize money of approximately $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 1,000 (Mandatory: Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing) or 900 (non-Mandatory: Dubai/Doha, Rome, Canada, Cincinnati, Wuhan and Guadalajara).
