Pettisville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Clinton and German townships, Fulton County, Ohio, United States. Located at the intersection of County Road 19 and Country Road D, its elevation is . As of the 2020 census the population was 469. History Pettisville was laid out in 1857, and most likely was named for one Mr. Pettis, a railroad contractor. A post office was established at Pettisville in 1857. Geography Pettisville is in southwestern Fulton County, with the eastern portion of the community in Clinton Township and the western portion in German Township. Via County Road 19 it is north to Ohio State Route 2, which leads east to Wauseon, the Fulton County seat. Archbold is west of Pettisville via County Road D. Archbold is a village in Fulton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,346 at the 2010 census. Archbold is home to Northwest State Community College. It was designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation in 1983. History Archbold was founded in 1855 when the railroad was extended to that point. The village was probably named for John Archbald, a railroad promoter, though another tradition is that the name is an amalgamation of Arch and Bald, two other railroad officials. Wauseon, Ohio
Wauseon ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Fulton County, Ohio, Fulton County, Ohio, approximately 31 mi (51 km) west of Toledo, Ohio, Toledo. The population was 7,332 at the time of the United States Census 2010, 2010 census. History Wauseon was platted 1853 when the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway, Michigan Southern Air Railway was extended to that point. Land speculators bought 160 acres of land, which would become the City of Wauseon. The original name for the city was "Litchfield" after Litchfield, New York, where many of the city's new settlers had emigrated from. However, Hortensia Hayes, the daughter of an early settler, suggested that the new village be named after an Ottawa Tribe Chief named Wauseon, who was forced by the federal government to forfeit their land, before moving to Oklahoma in 1839. Ohio State Route 2
State Route 2 (SR 2), formerly known as Inter-county Highway 2 until 1921 and State Highway 2 in 1922, is an east–west highway crossing most of northern Ohio. Its western terminus is at the Indiana state line near Hicksville where the route becomes Indiana State Road 37 which continues to Fort Wayne, Indiana. The eastern terminus of the route is in Painesville Township in Lake County at U.S. Route 20 (US 20).
