History The club was founded in 1957 after Club Refinería Madero folded the year before playing in the Segunda División Profesional, who had previously finished runner-up in 3 occasions first in 1960 behind C.F. Monterrey, second in 1962 behind Club Universidad Nacional, third in 1963 behind 1963. In 1964 the league organized a short playoff tournament in order to increase the number of clubs in the first division. The Copa MX (formerly called Copa Tower Monterrey, Copa Eliminatoria, Copa México and Copa Corona MX (for sponsorship reasons)) was a Mexican football cup competition that was established in 1907. After a lengthy hiatus that began in 1997, it was restored in 2012. On early editions of the cup, it consisted of both professional and amateur stages. The Club Atlético Celaya was a Mexican football club from Celaya, Guanajuato. The club was formed in 1994 when the two second-division clubs Atletico Cuernavaca (Morelos) and Escuadra Celeste de Celaya (Guanajuato) merged. Club de Fútbol Laguna (nicknamed La Ola Verde) is a football club. The club played in the Mexican football league system Primera División de México and it was based in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. History Club de Fútbol Laguna was founded in 1953 that same year the club join the Segunda División Profesional where they played from 1953 to 1967. It was in 1968 when the club was promoted to the Primera División de México with Juan Ángel "Pito" Pérez coaching the club, who took the place of the regulated Atletico Morelia. The club was merely a contender in the first division but gave the people of the region a chance to see first division action. Club Deportivo Irapuato is a professional football club, based in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. They are currently playing in the Serie A in the Liga Premier. Irapuato has mostly played in the Promotion League of Mexico (formerly Primera División A or Ascenso MX. From 2000 to 2004, the team briefly rose to prominence in the Liga MX reaching the playoffs. Historically, Irapuato has spent over 26 years in the Primera División, never quite excelling to challenge for the title. The team was relegated from the Primera División in 2004 but not because of their on-field performance, but because of financial irregularities.
