Petko Voyvoda Peak
Petko Voyvoda Peak ( bg, връх Петко Войвода, vrah Petko Voyvoda, ) is a partly ice-covered peak of elevation 400 m in Delchev Ridge in Tangra Mountains, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica, which surmounts Sopot Ice Piedmont to the northwest, and Pautalia Glacier to the east. The peak is named after Captain Petko Voyvoda (pseudonym of Petko Kiryakov, 1844–1900), leader of the Bulgarian liberation movement in Western Thrace and the Rhodope Mountains. Location The peak is located at , which is 1.1 km east of Elena Peak, 1.33 km southeast of Paisiy Peak, 930 m southwest of Kaloyan Nunatak from which the peak is separated by Sozopol Gap, and 1.26 km west-southwest of Shabla Knoll (Bulgarian mapping in 2005 and 2009 from the Tangra 2004/05 survey). Rhodope Mountains
The Rhodopes (; bg, Родопи, ; el, Ροδόπη, ''Rodopi''; tr, Rodoplar) are a mountain range in Southeastern Europe, and the largest by area in Bulgaria, with over 83% of its area in the southern part of the country and the remainder in Greece. Golyam Perelik is its highest peak at . The mountain range gives its name to the terrestrial ecoregion Rodope montane mixed forests that belongs in the temperate broadleaf and mixed forests biome and the Palearctic realm. The region is particularly notable for its karst areas with their deep river gorges, large caves and specific sculptured forms, such as the Trigrad Gorge. A significant part of Bulgaria's hydropower resources are located in the western areas of the range. There are a number of hydro-cascades and dams used for electricity production, irrigation, and as tourist destinations. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is an interdisciplinary body of the International Science Council (ISC). SCAR coordinates international scientific research efforts in Antarctica, including the Southern Ocean. SCAR's scientific work is administered through several discipline-themed ''science groups''. Sozopol Gap
Sozopol Gap (Sozopolska Sedlovina \so-'zo-pol-ska se-dlo-vi-'na\) is a partly ice-covered, 500 m long saddle in Delchev Ridge, Tangra Mountains, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica bounded to the southwest by Petko Voyvoda Peak and to the northeast by Kaloyan Nunatak. It is at an elevation of 220 metres, and is part of the divide between the glacial catchments of Sopot Ice Piedmont to the northwest and Pautalia Glacier to the southeast. Kaloyan Nunatak
Kaloyan Nunatak (pronounced ka-lo-'ya-nov 'nu-na-tak\) is a conspicuous nunatak in the Tangra Mountains. It is named after Czar Kaloyan of Bulgaria, 1197-1207 AD. Kaloyan Nunatak rises to approximately 400 m in Delchev Ridge, Tangra Mountains, on eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is situated next northeast of Sozopol Gap, 1.81 km east-northeast of Elena Peak, 1.53 km west-southwest of Mesta Peak and 3.32 km west-southwest of Renier Point. The peak surmounts Pautalia Glacier to the south, and Sopot Ice Piedmont to the west, north, and northeast. Paisiy Peak
Paisiy Peak ( bg, връх Паисий, vrah Paisiy, ) rises to approximately 550 m in the Delchev Ridge, Tangra Mountains, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica surmounting Sopot Ice Piedmont to the north and east. The peak is named after Paisiy Hilendarski, St. Paisiy Hilendarski (St. Paisius of Chilendar, 1722–73), a famous figure of the Bulgarian National Revival, and author of the book ‘Slavonic-Bulgarian History: On the People, Bulgarian Czars and Saints, and All Bulgarian Deeds and Events’. Elena Peak
Elena Peak ( bg, връх Елена, vrah Elena, ) is a 700 m peak in Delchev Ridge, Tangra Mountains on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands. The peak surmounts Sopot Ice Piedmont to the north and Strandzha Glacier to the south, and was named after the Bulgarian town of Elena. The east slopes of Elena Peak and the north side of Delchev Ridge towards Renier Point, together with the adjacent portion of Sopot Ice Piedmont are a popular site for backcountry skiing and climbing, with skiers landed by ''Zodiac'' rigid inflatable boats from cruise ships visiting the Half Moon Island area.
