Peter Van Heemst
Erik Peter van Heemst (born 10 July 1952 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch politician. From 1991 to 2006 he was a member of the House of Representatives for the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA). Since the municipal elections of 2006 he was the leader of the PvdA in Rotterdam, until his resignation on 27 March 2014. Van Heemst studied law in Rotterdam, after which he became personal assistant to Hans Kombrink, member of parliament for the PvdA at that time. He was also a public housing staff member for the PvdA. From 1978 to 1991 he was a member of the provincial parliament of South Holland for the PvdA, and in 1987 he became a member of the provincial executive for urban renewal, recreation, nature and landscaping. In 1991 he became an MP for the PvdA. When he left his post in 2006 to become leader of the PvdA in Rotterdam he was the longest-sitting member of the PvdA in the House of Representatives. GroenLinks (, ) is a green political party in the Netherlands. It was formed on 1 March 1989 from the merger of four left-wing parties: the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Pacifist Socialist Party, the Political Party of Radicals and the Evangelical People's Party, which shared left-wing and progressive ideals and earlier co-operated in Regenboog-coalition for the 1989 European Parliament election. After disappointing results in the 1989 and 1994 general elections, the nascent party fared particularly well in the 1998 and 2002 elections. The party's leader at that time, Paul Rosenmöller, was seen as the unofficial Leader of the Opposition against the First Kok cabinet, a purple government. Marcus Gerhardus Theodorus (Marco) Pastors (born 10 September 1965) is a Dutch civil servant and former politician. Since 1 February 2012 he has been director of the Nationaal Programma Kwaliteitssprong Zuid, a project of the city of Rotterdam to improve living conditions in the south of Rotterdam. Livable Rotterdam ( nl, Leefbaar Rotterdam) is a local political party in the municipality of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, which was founded by Ronald Sørensen in 2001. Livable Rotterdam won the council elections of March 2002 due to the charismatic leadership of Pim Fortuyn who had been selected to lead the party. This made it the city's largest political party, a position which for the previous thirty years had been held by the Labour Party.
