''Peter the Mariner'' (german: Peter der Matrose) is a 1929 German silent comedy drama film directed by Reinhold Schünzel and starring Schünzel, Renate Müller, and Hans Heinrich von Twardowski. It was shot at the Grunewald Studios in Berlin and on location in St. Moritz and in the North Sea. Synopsis A man goes on a series of travels around the world after discovering that his wife has been unfaithful to him. Reinhold Schünzel
Reinhold Schünzel (7 November 1888 – 11 November 1954) was a German actor and director, active in both Germany and the United States. The son of a German father and a Jewish mother, he was born in St. Pauli, the poorest part of Hamburg. Despite being of Jewish ancestry, Schünzel was allowed by the Nazis to continue making films for several years until he eventually left in 1937 to live abroad. Life in Germany Reinhold Schünzel (or Schuenzel) started his career as an actor in 1915 with a role in the film ''Werner Krafft''. He directed his first film in 1918's ''Mary Magdalene (1920 film), Mary Magdalene'' and in 1920 directed ''The Girl from Acker Street'' and ''Catherine the Great (1920 film), Catherine the Great''.
