Peter Stewart (athlete)
Peter John Stewart (born 8 August 1947) is a British male former middle-distance runner. His greatest achievement was a gold medal in the 3000 metres at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1971. He also competed in the 1500 metres at the 1971 European Athletics Championships that year, but failed to make the final. He also competed for Scotland at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games, narrowly missing out on a medal in fourth place. Nationally, he won the 1500 m at the 1972 AAA Championships and the 3000 m at the 1971 AAA Indoor Championships. He was also Scottish champion in the 1500 m in 1970. Both he and his brother, Ian Stewart, were members of Birchfield Harriers. At the Emsley Carr Mile, he took back-to-back titles in 1971 and 1972, following on from his brother's victory the previous year. GBR Athletics ... Peter "Buck" Stewart (1730–1796) was an English cricketer who played for the Hambledon Club in its great days during the 1760s and 1770s. Pete Stewart is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer from Seattle, Washington. He is the lead singer and guitarist of Grammatrain, was the lead singer for The Accident Experiment, and is the former guitarist of Tait. Stewart released solo albums in 1999, 2007 and 2010. He served as producer, songwriter, and guitarist for the debut albums of Tait (the solo project of Michael Tait) and TobyMac, the latter of which sold over 500,000 copies. Pete Stewart (born August 12, 1931, in Statesville, North Carolina) is a retired NASCAR Grand National Series driver who participated in 17 racing events from 1953 to 1965. Career While never winning a race, Stewart managed to complete of demanding pavement and dirt track racing. On average, Stewart started in 26th place and ended in 23rd place. His modest racing career left him with only a total career earnings of $3,940 ($ when adjusted for inflation). Stewart would see his best finishes on dirt tracks; where he would finish an average of 19th place. However, Pete Stewart's Achilles heel came on tri-oval intermediate tracks where a meager 28th place would have been considered par for the course. Gunnery Sergeant Peter Stewart (February 17, 1858 – June 17, 1914) was a member of the United States Marine Corps and a recipient of the Medal of Honor. He was one a group of U.S. sailors and Marines dispatched to guard the United States legation in Beijing during the Boxer Rebellion, and was awarded the medal for his extreme gallantry in four separate actions during June 1900. Stewart was buried at the Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York, Section 2, Grave 7303. Medal of Honor citation Rank and organization: Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps. Born: February 17, 1858, Airdrie, Scotland. Accredited to: Washington, D.C. G.O. No.: 55, July 19, 1901. Stewart is an American Democratic Party politician who served as mayor of Caldwell, New Jersey in the 1960s and 1970s, was a member of the Essex County, New Jersey Board of Chosen Freeholders and was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly from Assembly District 11D in 1971. He was the General Counsel to the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. Sam Newfield, born Samuel Neufeld, (December 6, 1899 - November 10, 1964), also known as Sherman Scott or Peter Stewart, was an American B-movie Film director, director, one of the most prolific in American film history—he is credited with directing over 250 feature films in a career which began during the silent era and ended in 1958. In addition to his staggering feature output, he also directed one -and two-reel comedy Short film, shorts, training films, industrial films, TV episodes and pretty much anything anyone would pay him for. Because of this massive output—he would sometimes direct more than 20 films in a single year—he has been called the most prolific director of the sound era.
