Peter Silvester (1734 – October 15, 1808) was an American politician who was a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York, and a prominent Federalist attorney in Kinderhook.Brooke, p. 230 He was a mentor to Martin Van Buren, the 8th President of the United States and was the grandfather of New York Representative Peter Henry Silvester. Early life Peter Silvester was born in 1734 at Shelter Island in the Province of New York (just off the eastern coast of Long Island). Peter Dennis Silvester (born 19 February 1948) is an English former football Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal. Unqualified, the word ''football'' normally means the form of football that is the most popular where the word is used. Sports commonly c ... forward. Silvester, a striker, began his professional career with Reading, with whom he played from 1965 to 1970, scoring 26 goals. He then joined Norwich City, with whom he won the Second Division championship in 1972 and scored 37 goals in 100 appearances. He went on to play for Colchester United, Southend United, Reading on loan, Blackburn Rovers and Cambridge United before playing in the United States for Baltimore Comets, Vancouver Whitecaps, San Diego Jaws and Washington Diplomats.
