Peter Sartori
Peter David Sartori (born 24 October 1964) is a former Australian rules football player who played for the Carlton Football Club and the Fitzroy Football Club in the AFL and Swan Districts Football Club in the WAFL throughout the mid to late 1980s and early 1990s. Sartori commenced his career at Swan Districts in 1981 after being recruited from Redcliffe. He missed the 1982 finals due to a kidney injury sustained at an exhibition game in Esperance midway through the season. He continued playing in 1983 and helped his club win both the 1983 and 1984 Grand Finals playing both as a ruckman and at centre half forward. Sartori left Swan Districts in 1986 after six seasons in which he had played 82 games and kicked 119 goals in the number 15 guernsey. He joined the Carlton Football Club in 1987, but with Stephen Kernahan and Justin Madden monopolising the centre half-forward and ruck positions, Sartori was used mainly as a full-forward. 1986 WAFL Season
The 1986 WAFL season was the 102nd season of the various incarnations of the West Australian Football League. It was the last season before the introduction of the West Coast Eagles in the VFL which would relegate the WAFL to a second-level league from 1987, and already all WAFL clubs were in severe financial difficulties as attendances were stagnant at best since 1970 and the financial power of wealthy VFL clubs drew most top players away and left below-market transfer fees as WAFL clubs’ inadequate main income source. The 1992 AFL season was the 96th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured fifteen clubs, ran from 21 March until 26 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. Prior to the season, the AFL ceased its role as the administrative body for football in Victoria after 95 years: this role was transferred, along with control of the reserves competition, to the newly established Victorian State Football League (VSFL). Justin Madden
Justin Mark Madden (born 31 May 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer and state politician. He played for the Essendon Football Club and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). After his retirement in 1997, Madden decided to enter Victorian politics, using the experience gained from his presidency of the AFL Players Association to run for candidacy as an Australian Labor Party member. He served in both the Victorian Legislative Assembly and Victorian Legislative Council before retiring from office in November 2014. Madden is also a registered architect in the State of Victoria.
