Peter Randt
Peter Randt (born 24 January 1941) is a former East German male handball player. He was a member of the East Germany national handball team, playing 6 matches. He was part of the team at the 1972 Summer Olympics. On club level he played for SC DHfK Leipzig. Randt also played for the silver medal-winning national team in the 1970 World Men's Handball Championship in France, which lost in the final to Romania, 13–12. Güstrow
Güstrow (; la, Gustrovium) is a town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is capital of the Rostock district; Rostock itself is a district-free city and regiopolis. SC DHfK Leipzig Handball
SC DHfK Leipzig Handball is a German handball team from Leipzig, Germany, that plays in the Handball-Bundesliga. It was one of the strongest GDR clubs in late 1950s and 1960s. History The SC DHfK Leipzig was founded in 1954 as a sports club of the ''Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur'' (German University for Physical Culture). During the time in the GDR, the club's handball section won six national championships (1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966) and won the GDR Cup twice. In addition, it won the EHF Champions League in the 1965/1966 season and defeated Budapest Honvéd in the final on 22 April 1966 (16:14). In 1975, the authorities decided to dissolve the handball section and transfer all the players to another club in the city, SC Leipzig. Handball at the 1972 Summer Olympics was the second appearance of the sport at the Olympics, returning to the Olympic program after a 36-year absence. The competition was for men only and it was contested by sixteen teams. The teams were split into four groups of four teams each. Each team played every other team in its group. The lowest team in group A played the lowest in group B while the lowest in groups C and D played each other. The winners of those games played each other for 13th and 14th places, while the losers played each other for 15th and 16th. The third-ranked teams in groups A and B also played each, as did those in groups C and D. Again, the winners of those games played each other, this time for 9th and 10th places.
