Peter B. Olsen (April 11, 1848 – July 3, 1926) was an American newspaper editor and politician. Biography Olsen was born in Christiana, Norway on April 11, 1848. He emigrated to the United States in 1872. He was a printer by trade and became the literary editor for the ''Skandinaven'' in Chicago, Illinois. From 1899 to 1903, he served as a Republican representative in the Illinois House of Representatives The Illinois House of Representatives is the lower house of the Illinois General Assembly. Orm Øverland
Orm Harald Øverland (17 May 1935 – 1 December 2021) was a Norwegian literary historian. He was born in Oslo and grew up in that city as well as in Bryne, Montreal and Aukra. He graduated with the cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo in 1962, and was employed as a research assistant for one year. He then became a research fellow and took his PhD at Yale University in 1969. He was subsequently hired at the University of Bergen as a docent in 1970 and was promoted to professor in 1975, serving until his retirement in 2005. His fields of research were American literature and the Norwegian-Americans. At the University of Bergen, Øverland headed the Institute of English Studies from 1974 to 1975 before serving as dean of the Faculty of Humanities from 1979 to 1982. Philip Knopf (November 18, 1847 – August 14, 1920) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois. Biography Born near Long Grove, Illinois, Knopf attended public schools. During the Civil War, he enlisted in Company I, 147th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and served until the regiment was mustered out in Savannah, Georgia. He moved to Chicago in 1866 and attended Bryant & Stratton College for one year. He engaged in the teaming business until 1884, when he was appointed chief deputy coroner and served eight years. He served as a member of the Illinois State senate from 1886 to 1894. He served as clerk of Cook County from 1894 to 1902. He served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1896 and as a member of the State Republican central committee.
