Peter Lester
Peter Lester (born in Christchurch) is a New Zealand sailor (sport), sailor and Sports commentator, broadcaster. Sailing career In 1977 he was the List of World Championships medalists in sailing (centreboard classes), World Champion in the OK (dinghy), OK class. He was named the NZ Yachtsman of the Year in 1977 and again in 1987. Lester joined New Zealand Challenge for the 1988 America's Cup where he was the tactician on board ''KZ1 (yacht), KZ1''. He coached the Spanish Desafio España Copa America challenge at the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. In 1993 he was the helmsman on Willi Illbruck's ''Pinta (yacht), Pinta'', which won the One Ton Cup. He sailed in the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup as part of Tag Heuer Challenge. He competed in the 2017 World Masters Games in a Laser (dinghy), Laser. The sport of sailing involves a variety of competitive sailing formats that are sanctioned through various sailing federations and yacht clubs. In sports broadcasting, a sports commentator (also known as sports announcer or sportscaster) provides a real-time commentary of a game or event, usually during a live broadcast, traditionally delivered in the historical present tense. Radio was the first medium for sports broadcasts, and radio commentators must describe all aspects of the action to listeners who cannot see it for themselves. In the case of televised sports coverage, commentators are usually presented as a voiceover, with images of the contest shown on viewers' screens and sounds of the action and spectators heard in the background. Volvo Ocean Race
The Ocean Race is a yacht race around the world, held every three or four years since 1973. Originally named the Whitbread Round the World Race after its initiating sponsor, British brewing company Whitbread, in 2001 it became the Volvo Ocean Race after Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo took up the sponsorship, and in 2019 it was renamed The Ocean Race.
