Peter Keane (Gaelic Footballer)
Peter Keane (born 1971) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player who, most recently, managed the Kerry senior football team. As a player, he lined out with South Kerry Championship club St Mary's. Keane is one of nine children. Both of his parents ran the Ringside Rest Hotel in Cahersiveen. His father Tom was a builder who spent time as chairman of the South Kerry board. Peter Keane played football in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He played for St Mary's alongside fellow forward Maurice Fitzgerald. In 1988, the pair won a Kerry under-21 title for South Kerry. However, his county career was limited to minor (1989), county junior (1990) and under-21 (captaining the 1992 team to a Munster title). He spent four years working in a bank before departing to work in retail in Killorglin. He is considered shrewd. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Killarney
Killarney ( ; ga, Cill Airne , meaning 'church of sloes') is a town in County Kerry, southwestern Ireland. The 2019 National Football League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Allianz National Football League, was the 88th staging of the National Football League (NFL), an annual Gaelic football tournament for Gaelic Athletic Association county teams. Thirty-one county teams from the island of Ireland, plus London, competed; Kilkenny do not participate. The GAA announced a new broadcast agreement on 10 January 2019, expected to run from 2019 until 2022. Eir Sport and RTÉ provided live TV coverage of the league on Saturday nights. Jack Sherwood (born 17 February 1991) is a footballer with the Kerry senior football team. He has played with Kerry at all levels from minor to senior. He then moved on to the Under 21 team and played in the Munster final in 2012 but lost out to Cork. Jonathan Lyne
Jonathan Lyne (24 February 1990) is an Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Killarney Legion GAA, Killarney Legion and was a member of the senior Kerry county football team, Kerry county team from 2014. Lyne started at right half-back for Kerry in the 2015 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final defeat to Dublin county football team, Dublin. He is a cousin of Pat Spillane. His younger brother Damien died suddenly in Killarney in 2020. Lyne confirmed his retirement from inter-county football on 1 January 2021. 2018 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2018 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 131st edition of the GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football competition since its establishment in 1887. Thirty-three teams entered the competition – thirty-one of the thirty-two counties of Ireland ( Kilkenny, as in previous years, did not enter), London and New York. 2018 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship
The 2018 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship was the GAA's premier inter-county gaelic football competition for under 17s. Thirty one county teams from Ireland competed (Kilkenny did not participate). 2018 was the first minor competition for under 17 year-olds – previously the competition had an under 18 age limit. The under 17 championship with a new format was introduced after a vote at the GAA congress on 26 February 2016. A league format was introduced in Connacht and Leinster. Munster retained their double elimination format and Ulster changed to a double elimination format. Kerry defeated Galway by 0-21 to 1-14 on 2 September 2018 to win their fifth All-Ireland minor title in a row, the first time this feat was achieved. The winners received the Tom Markham Cup.
