Peter J. Cutino
Peter J. Cutino (April 3, 1933 – September 19, 2004) was an American swimming and water polo coach and educator for over 40 years and the author of several books and numerous articles on coaching aquatic sports. In his 26 years as head coach at the University of California, Berkeley, his Cal teams won eight NCAA titles. He was the all-time winning coach in U.S. water polo history. His efforts for water sports training, development of facilities for competition and philanthropic support of athletes earned him national recognition. In 1999, the Peter J. Cutino Award was established in his honor by the San Francisco Olympic Club, and is presented annually to the top American male and female collegiate water polo players. Coaching Cutino attended college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and received a master's degree in education in 1959. Monterey, California
Monterey (; es, Monterrey; Ohlone: ) is a city located in Monterey County on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on the U.S. state of California's Central Coast. Founded on June 3, 1770, it functioned as the capital of Alta California under both Spain (1804–1821) and Mexico (1822–1846). During this period, Monterey hosted California's first theater, public building, public library, publicly-funded school, printing-press, and newspaper. It was originally the only port of entry for all taxable goods in California. In 1846, during the Mexican–American War of 1846–1848, the United States Flag was raised over the Customs House. After Mexico ceded California to the U.S. at the end of the war, Monterey hosted California's first constitutional convention in 1849. Monterey High School (Monterey, California)
Monterey High School is a public high school in the western United States, located in Monterey, California. It is the oldest of the four high schools overseen by the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. History In 1905, Monterey High School was combined with Del Monte Technical School to form Monterey Union High School. The wooden three-story building was destroyed by fire and a new school building was constructed on the current site by 1915. The school serviced students from as far north as Castroville to as far south as Big Sur and all of Carmel Valley. The other two districts, Pacific Grove and Carmel, only serviced students within their small city limits. Proficiency statistics As of 2020, Monterey High school serves 1,306 students in grade levels 9 through 12. The mathematical proficiency level is 38%, which is lower than California's average of 39%.
