Peter Howell (musician)
Peter Howell (born 1949) is a musician and composer. He is best known for his work on ''Doctor Who'' as a member of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Howell's musical career began in the late 1960s working with John Ferdinando in various psychedelic folk bands including Agincourt and Ithaca. Howell and Ferdinando recorded five albums before Howell became a member of the Radiophonic Workshop, with which he would remain associated until 1997. ''Doctor Who'' His work on ''Doctor Who'' began in 1975 when he provided some accompanying incidental music for ''Revenge of the Cybermen'' and special sound for ''Planet of Evil''. When John Nathan-Turner became producer of ''Doctor Who'' in 1980, he decided that the music needed to be updated and commissioned Howell to provide a new arrangement of the ''Doctor Who'' theme to accompany a new title sequence. Peter Howell (actor)
Peter Norman Bulmer Howell (25 October 1919 – 20 April 2015) was an English actor. Born in London, he was educated at Winchester College and began studying law at Christ Church, Oxford, but left in 1939 after being called up for military service in World War II. He served as a second-lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade, but was invalided out with dysentery during the North Africa Campaign in 1943. Shortly after, he made his professional stage debut with the Old Vic company. His West End plays included '' The Affair'', '' The Doctor's Dilemma'', ''Little Boxes'', and ''Conduct Unbecoming''. Howell's most recognised role was as Dr. Peter Harrison in television hospital drama series ''Emergency – Ward 10'' from 1958 to 1964, making brief returns to the series in 1966 and for the show's final episode in 1967. Peter Adrian Howell (born 29 July 1941) is a British academic and historian. Career Howell began his career in 1964 as an assistant lecturer at the University of London; he later was promoted to lecturer in the Latin Department at Bedford College, where he remained until 1985. He moved to the Classics Department of the Royal Holloway and Bedford New College as lecturer from 1985 until 1994, and as senior lecturer from 1994-99. Peter Howell (psychologist)
Peter Howell is a British psychologist and Professor of Experimental Psychology at University College London (UCL). His research is focused on speech and hearing, particularly stuttering, speech perception and speech production. Education and early life Peter Howell obtained a BSc degree in Psychology and Sociology from University of Bradford. Later he moved to UCL to work as a research assistant with Professor Robert Audley. His next position, as a programmer, was at University of Sussex with Professor Chris Darwin who sparked Howell's interest in speech. This led him to pursue a PhD at UCL under the supervision of Professor Robert Audley. Career and research After completing his PhD, Howell joined the UCL and started working on speech production.
