Peter Ronald Horne is a New Zealand Paralympian who competed in lawn bowls. At the 1988 Summer Paralympics, he won a gold medal in the Singles LB3, and a bronze medal in the Pairs LB2. He also competed at the 1996 Summer Paralympics The 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, were held from August 16 to 25. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). It is normally played outdoors (although there are many indoor venues) and the outdoor surface is either natural grass, artificial turf or cotula (in New Zealand). The 1988 Summer Paralympics () were the first Paralympics in 24 years to take place in the same city as the Olympic Games. They took place in Seoul, South Korea. The New Zealand Order of Merit is an order of merit in the New Zealand royal honours system.
