Peter Henderson (Australian Public Servant)
Peter Graham Faithfull Henderson, (1 October 1928 – 25 September 2016) was an Australian senior public servant. He was Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs between 1979 and 1984. He was also well known for being the son-in-law of Robert Menzies. Early life and marriage Henderson was born in October 1928. He was educated at Geelong Grammar School, Victoria, and Merton College, Oxford (1947-1950). In May 1955, Henderson married Heather Menzies, daughter of Robert Menzies, the Australian Prime Minister. They had their first child, a daughter, in March 1956, in Jakarta. Career and later life Henderson began his career in the Australian Public Service in the Department of External Affairs in 1951. Peter Henderson, Baron Henderson Of Brompton
Peter Gordon Henderson, Baron Henderson of Brompton (16 September 1922 – 13 January 2000) was a British public servant who served as Clerk of the Parliaments from 1974 to 1983. He was born into a Scottish family, the son of James Alexander Leo Henderson and Maud Sophia Grace Hardy. Henderson was educated at Dragon School and Stowe School and Magdalen College, Oxford. He served with the Scots Guards during the Second World until he was seriously wounded in 1944 during the Battle of Anzio, sustaining injuries from which he never fully recovered, despite undergoing multiple operations over the years. His brother John Patrick Leo Henderson was killed in action in Italy in 1944. Peter Henderson (24 April 1965 – 28 February 2010) was an Australian cricketer who played a single match for Western Australia. Born in Mount Barker, Western Australia, Henderson represented Western Australia at under-19s level, and later attended the Western Australian Institute of Sport. His sole match at state level came during the 1987–88 McDonald's Cup, a limited-overs knockout competition. Peter Henderson (born 29 September 1952) is an English former professional footballer who mainly played as a winger. He played in The Football League for three clubs, with most of his appearances being made for chester Playing career Henderson was 26 before he made his breakthrough into The Football League, when he joined Chester from Witton Albion in December 1978. He had previously spent time on the books of Manchester City without making a first-team appearance'Player Memories', Chester City v. Gillingham matchday programme; 28 December 1993; pg. 24 and worked as a teacher of physical education in Winsford. Peter "Sammy" Henderson (18 April 1926 – 24 November 2014) was a New Zealand rugby union and rugby league footballer. He also competed at the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland, winning a bronze medal in the 4 x 110 yards men's relay. Biography Born in Gisborne and educated at Gisborne Boys' High School, Henderson made his provincial rugby union début for Hawke's Bay in 1944. Moving to Wanganui, where he worked as a dental technician, he played rugby union for the Kaierau Club, and 26 representative matches for Wanganui. He was a member of the ill-fated 1949 All Blacks side, captained by Fred Allen, which lost all four tests on its tour of South Africa. Henderson was top try scorer on the tour, with seven tries. Henderson excelled in several sports, including sprinting. Following his return from South Africa he had little time to change sports and get into serious sprint training for the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland.
