Peter Gilchrist (billiards Player)
Peter Gilchrist (born 1968 in Middlesbrough) is an English-born Singaporean English billiards player. He won the World Billiards Championship (English billiards) in 1994, 2001, and 2013 (long format), and 2019. Career Peter Gilchrist played in Teesside Boys Billiards League as a youth. he was the English Amateur Champion in 1988. He won the World Billiards Championship (English billiards) in 1994, 2001, 2013 (long format) and 2019. He has won International Billiards and Snooker Federation world titles in 2015 (short format), 2016 and 2019 (long up). In 2003, he moved to Singapore to become the national billiards and snooker coach, and in 2006 he became a Singaporean citizen under the Foreign Sports Talent Scheme. He renounced his British citizenship at the same time. Gilchrist represented Singapore in the SEA Games in 2009, where he won Gold for English Billiards Singles, and Bronze for the doubles. The International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) is an organisation that governs non-professional snooker and English billiards around the world. As of January 2020, the organisation is headquartered in Doha, Qatar. History The World Billiards and Snooker Council (WB&SC) was established in 1971, following a meeting of a number of national associations at a hotel in Malta during the World Amateur Billiards Championship. The associations were dissatisfied that the Billiards and Snooker Control Council was controlling both the UK and international games. The World Billiards Championship is an international cue sports tournament in the discipline of English billiards, organised by World Billiards, a subsidiary of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA). In its various forms, and usually as a single competition, the title is one of the oldest sporting world championships, having been contested (though irregularly) since 1870. From 2012 to 2014 there were separate ''timed'' and ''points'' divisions, with the tournament held in association with the International Billiards and Snooker Federation. The 2009 Asian Indoor Games ( vi, Đại hội Thể thao Trong nhà châu Á 2009), officially the 3rd Asian Indoor Games ( vi, Đại hội Thể thao Trong nhà châu Á lần thứ 3) and also known as Vietnam 2009, were a pancontinential indoor multi-sport event held in Vietnam from 30 October till 8 November 2009. The Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (abbreviated as AIMAG) is a pancontinental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. It is organised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and consists of Indoor and martial arts events with TV broadcasting potential, some of which were not contested at the Asian Games and Asian Winter Games Programs and are not Olympic sports.
