Peter Frain
Peter John Andrew Frain (born 18 March 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker in the Football League for Mansfield Town. After retiring as a player he took up management, most recently as manager of Midland Football Combination Premier Division side Bolehall Swifts. Playing career Frain spent five years with West Bromwich Albion, during which time he played four times for the England under-18 team. He played twice in the Third Division of the Football League while on loan to Mansfield Town, but never appeared for his owning club. He went on to play in the Faroe Islands and in English non-League football. Management career After retiring as a player Frain became a manager, first with Knowle, and then in joint charge of Alvechurch alongside Paul Busst until the pair left the club in September 2009. The Football League Third Division was the third tier of the English football league system in 1920–21 and again from 1958 until 1992. John Frain
John William Frain (born 8 October 1968) is an English former professional footballer who played for Birmingham City and Northampton Town. He played in all four divisions of the Football League, making nearly 500 league appearances for his two clubs. Life and career Frain was born in Yardley, Birmingham. He joined Birmingham City from school, made his debut in the First Division in April 1986 aged 17, and signed full professional forms in October of that year. He was originally a left back, but good passing ability and a lack of pace saw him moved into midfield, towards the end of his Birmingham career returning to left-back. He was the club's free kick and penalty specialist. Midland Football Alliance
The Midland Football Alliance was an English association football league for semi-professional teams. It covered Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire and also southern parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The league consisted of a single division which sat at Step 5 of the National League System, or the ninth level of the overall English football league system. The league was formed in 1994, drawing its initial membership from the strongest clubs in the Midland Football Combination and the West Midlands (Regional) League, both of which became feeder leagues to the new competition. Each season, the champion club of each feeder league was eligible for promotion to the Alliance, and Alliance clubs could in turn be relegated to the feeder leagues. Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League or below that level. Typically, non-League clubs are either semi-professional or amateur in status, although the majority of clubs in the National League are fully professional, some of which are former EFL clubs who have suffered relegation.
