Sir Peter George FitzGerald, 1st Baronet, 19th Knight of Kerry (15 September 1808 – 6 August 1880) was an Anglo-Irish nobleman. Early life Peter George FitzGerald was born on 15 September 1808 and was raised in the banking house of his maternal grandfather in Dublin. He was the eldest surviving son of the Right Hon. Sir Maurice FitzGerald, 18th Knight of Kerry (1774–1849) of Gleanleam, Valentia Island, Co Kerry and his wife Maria, the daughter of the Right Honourable David la Touche of Marlay. Career Sir Peter entered the civil service and was appointed Vice-Treasurer of Ireland in the last ministry of Sir Robert Peel. In 1849, he succeeded his father and resided almost constantly on Valentia Island, devoting himself to the improvement of his estates, and the welfare of his tenantry. Peter FitzGerald (businessman)
Peter FitzGerald (born 1950) is a Northern Irish biochemist and businessman, and the founder and owner of Randox Health. FitzGerald was born in Belfast, and his parents moved to Crumlin. He was educated at Wallace High School, Lisburn, followed by a degree in biochemistry from the University of Strathclyde, and a PhD from the National Institute for Medical Research in London. FitzGerald was a junior fellow at Queen's University Belfast, before leaving to start his own company. FitzGerald started Randox in 1982, aged 32, from a small lab in a chicken house in Randox Road, Crumlin, County Antrim, at the rear of his parents' farm. In 2017, The ''Sunday Times Rich List'' estimated his net worth at £255 million, and in 2020 at £215 million. FitzGerald is married to Nuailin, which he has called his "best business decision". Peter Joseph Fitzgerald (16 June 1937 – 29 June 2013) was an Irish professional footballer. A centre forward Fitzgerald was one of the famous six Waterford brothers who played for the Waterford Blues. Tommy, Jack, Ned, Denny and Paul were the others. Along with Alfie Hale he made a scoring League of Ireland debut at Kilcohan Park on St Patrick's Day 1957 in a 3–1 win over Bohemians. His brother Jack setting up his goal which Peter finished with a grand header Along with two of his brothers Peter played in the 1959 FAI Cup Final against St Patrick's Athletic. Peter Gosselin Fitzgerald (born October 20, 1960) is a retired American lawyer and politician who served as a United States Senator from Illinois. A member of the Republican Party, he served from 1999 to 2005. Fitzgerald defeated Democratic incumbent Carol Moseley Braun in 1998, becoming the first Republican to win a U.S. Senate race in Illinois since Charles Percy twenty years earlier. He had previously served in the Illinois State Senate from 1993 to 1998. Known as a maverick for his willingness to break party lines, Fitzgerald retired from the Senate in 2005 and was succeeded by Barack Obama. Peter Fitzgerald (born 1951) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Career Remembered as a ferocious tackler and originally from Canowindra, New South Wales, Peter Fitzgerald came to St George Dragons as an 18-year-old in 1969 on the recommendation of Ian Walsh. He gave great service to St George Dragons in the seven seasons that he played for them between 1969–1975, which included his appearance in two (losing) Grand Finals of 1971 and 1975, and many semi final appearances. After the Grand Final defeat in 1975, Peter Fitzgerald moved to Sydney Roosters for one year in 1976 and re-united with his former coach Jack Gibson.
