Peter Edwards, (born 20 November 1955), is a British painter. He won the 1994 BP Portrait Award. Early career In 1980 he exhibited a small self-portrait in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The painting was bought by the art collector, Sir Brinsley Ford. In 1986 his portrait of The Liverpool Poets was purchased by the National Portrait Gallery. His continuing involvement with the gallery and Robin Gibson then 20th Century Curator (later Chief Curator) led to a major one-man exhibition and tour in the Gallery in April 1990 "Contemporary Poets", which consisted of 17 large canvasses of 20 poets, alongside a poem from each poet, numerous studies, and a series of Saturday morning readings from Seamus Heaney, Douglas Dunn, Charles Causley, Wendy Cope, and Craig Raine. Peter Edwards (born 4 July 1969) is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who represented New Zealand in 1993. Peter Philip Edwards FRSC FRS (born 1949, Liverpool) is British Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and former Head of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Catherine's College, Oxford. Edwards is the recipient of the Corday-Morgan Medal (1985), the Tilden Lectureship (1993–94) and Liversidge Award (1999) of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1996 and was awarded the 2003 Hughes Medal of the Royal Society "for his distinguished work as a solid state chemist. He has made seminal contributions to fields including superconductivity and the behaviour of metal nanoparticles, and has greatly advanced our understanding of the phenomenology of the metal-insulator transition". Peter Geoffrey Edwards, AM (born 29 August 1945) is an Australian diplomatic and military historian. Educated at the University of Western Australia and the University of Oxford, Edwards worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Australian National University and the University of Adelaide before being appointed Official Historian and general editor of ''The Official History of Australia's Involvement in Southeast Asian Conflicts 1948–1975'' in 1982. The nine-volume history was commissioned to cover Australia's involvement in the Malayan Emergency, Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation and Vietnam War. Edwards spent fourteen years at the Australian War Memorial (AWM) writing two of the volumes, while also researching, editing, and dealing with budget limitations and problems with staff turnover. Peter Frederick Edwards (born 8 September 1939) is an Australian former representative rower. A national champion sculler, he competed in the men's single sculls event at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Club, state and Olympic rowing Edwards' senior club rowing was from the Melbourne Rowing Club. State representative honours for Edwards came in 1960 when he was selected as the Victorian entrant to race for the Presidents Cup in the men's single scull at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships.
