Peter Drysdale (cricketer)
Rupert Peter Owens Drysdale (born 7 January 1989) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Bay of Plenty and Northern Districts. After playing for the Bay of Plenty team in the Hawke Cup since the 2009/10 cricket season, Drysdale made his first-class cricket debut for Northern Districts in April 2022, in the penultimate match of the 2021–22 Plunket Shield season. Due to an outbreak of COVID-19 within the team, seven players made their first-class debuts for the team in the same match, with Drysdale doing so at the age of 33. Personal life Drysdale was born in Forest Row, East Sussex, England in 1989, and now lives in Tauranga, New Zealand. He is the younger brother of New Zealand rower Mahé Drysdale, who has won two gold medals and a bronze at three different editions of the Olympic Games. Forest Row
Forest Row is a village and a large civil parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. The village is located three miles (5 km) south-east of East Grinstead. Huddersfield Cricket League
The Huddersfield Cricket League is the premier cricket competition in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. The league has been in existence since 1891 with teams representing suburbs of Huddersfield and villages in the Huddersfield district area. There are now 41 teams in the league. Now there are teams from South Yorkshire and Saddleworth, as well as clubs that have joined the league from the now defunct Huddersfield Central Cricket League and former Central Yorkshire Cricket League. A number of local players have come from the Huddersfield League to play for in the English County Championship, mainly for Yorkshire and have gone on to represent England. Nathan Smith (New Zealand Cricketer)
Nathan Gregory Smith (born 15 July 1998) is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Otago on 30 March 2016 in the 2015–16 Plunket Shield. Prior to his first-class debut, Smith was named in New Zealand's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Otago on 26 December 2016 in the 2016–17 Super Smash. He made his List A debut for Otago on 25 January 2017 in the 2016–17 Ford Trophy. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with Otago for the 2018–19 season. In December 2019 he took 5 for 14 off 3.4 overs in Otago's T20 victory over Northern Districts. Leg before wicket (lbw) is one of the ways in which a batsman can be dismissed in the sport of cricket. Following an appeal by the fielding side, the umpire may rule a batter out lbw if the ball would have struck the wicket but was instead intercepted by any part of the batter's body (except the hand holding the bat). The umpire's decision will depend on a number of criteria, including where the ball pitched, whether the ball hit in line with the wickets, the ball's expected future trajectory after hitting the batsman, and whether the batter was attempting to hit the ball. The Central Stags, formerly known as Central Districts, are a first-class cricket team based in central New Zealand. They are the men's representative side of the Central Districts Cricket Association. 2019–20 Plunket Shield Season
The 2019–20 Plunket Shield was the 91st season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in New Zealand. It took place between October 2019 and March 2020. As per the previous edition of the competition, the tournament was scheduled to feature eight rounds of matches. Central Districts were the defending champions. In round two of the tournament, Michael Snedden became the first fourth-generation cricketer to play first-class cricket in New Zealand, when he made his debut for Wellington. In round five, Mark Chapman and Joe Carter scored centuries in both innings for Auckland, the first time that two batsman had scored a century in each innings in the same match in the Plunket Shield.
